Rangers thread | 2025/26

I’m always nervous before these games and fear the worst but this time it’s different. I can honestly see this being a humbling , humiliating defeat of record proportions.

The worst Rangers defence I can remember. Max Aarons admitting he is struggling under the pressure. Fucking embarrassing!!

The midfield is non existent. Raskin and Diomande replaced by Rothwell and Cameron . If it was any other club I’d be pissing myself.

Our wingers will be kicked off the park by Ralston and Tierney. In general we will be bullied all over the park.

Unless RM completely rips up his footballing style we have no chance. Huge test for him and I can see him failing miserably.

Go on Rangers. Prove me wrong!!

You have seen our form recently? None of us are confident of a win. That's how shit we are right now.

Well that was a bit shit wasn't it.
Somebody on the Celtic thread said he thought the EPL is a better standard. I’m hoping he’s American but anyway I had a good laugh at that

Shame that was your first OF. On the bright side it can only get better. Strange atmosphere. I didn’t hear them singing once today ( not that I’m complaining)

I mentioned it a few times in the Celtic Thread (seemed to be more activity there than on here today). It was utter shit, from start to finish. The "quality" was atricious. You think differently, I'm guessing.
I completely agree with you!

Atmosphere was great I thought in the build up to the game. I was n the ground really early and they did all their singing before the game tbf.
As you say a shame the game sucked the life out of the crowd because, being brutally honest it was atrocious and a really awful advert for Scottish football. At least I can be confident that if I'm able to get to another OF I won't see a game as bad as that again!
Celtic did surprise me with how poor they were. I thought they still looked pretty good, pretty fluid and threatening going forward when I watched them a couple weeks ago. They offered absolutely nothing though and we still failed to even get a meaningful shot off against them.
Yeah shame the game was shite but still got a real buzz out of being there, atmosphere pre-game and thru the first half was really good.

If any side shaded it, it was Rangers. Celtic seemed very flat, but there was a serious lack of quality from both sides.

Then we had the city (non) performance!
I don’t watch them unless they are playing Rangers or are 3-0 down and 5 minutes to go!! I was shocked at how poor they are. No.8 (nygren I think) was dreadful. Rangers are mentally fragile and 100% there for the taking but they missed out on a great chance of almost putting the league to bed.

We should improve greatly once new signings settle so I’m not writing this season off just yet.

As for City. Keep waiting for it all to click into place but it’s just not happening at the moment

Serious question; if Celtic had won yesterday, would you have conceded the title? At least privately (I wouldn't expect you to do so on here; I wouldn't, in your shoes).

Yeah Rangers looked a bit more threatening first half without really creating anything, second half was just a total non event. Takes some doing to completely drain the life out of an Old Firm atmosphere but that second half managed it.

Really, really poor game of football.

As bad as it gets for both teams. Horrible bwatch.

Seriously I call it as I see it and would admit it here if I felt that way. Nobody is going to concede a league title when 9 points behind biggest rival and still to play them 3 times and only 4 games into the season.

What I will concede is Rangers after the first quarter should have been ahead of Celtic. One of the quirks of our league is every second season Rangers have the easier first 11 fixtures. We are playing all the so called bigger teams at Ibrox and Celtic playing them all away from home.

My thoughts at the moment are we will get better (we can’t get worse) once the new signings settle in to our system.

I was honestly surprised at how poor Celtic were. I’m struggling to remember a poorer performance from a Celtic team in an old firm game. The rest of the clubs are improving and I’m certain both clubs will drop more points than they have in recent seasons.

Will be interesting to see how Celtic cope with the Thursday / Sunday fixtures.

Sorry for the long winded answer but I’m conceding nothing on the 1st of September

I often see on football forums fans of EPL teams moaning about the quality of football on show in an Old Firm game and thinking that they exaggerate just to make a point, and at the very least it's usually a good spectacle.

Well this 1 well and truly played up to that billing. It's quite possibly the worst Old Firm game that I can actually remember watching. I'm sure the xG Philosophy X page said that was the lowest xG game they have ever covered.

All the best to the young striker Chermiti that's signed today...but I cannot make any sense of why we've signed him. For that amount of money.
