Welcome Donnarumma!

Turns out Pep wanted him back in 2017 before they brought Ederson in. He loves him, and back then he felt that he could be trained to improve his play on the ball. There's obviously not been a huge amount of progression in that in the ensuing years, but Pep's feeling is still that he's a world class goalkeeper who can improve all aspects of his game.

This is much more of a Pep signing than I had originally anticipated it to be.

People swallowing the media narrative that Trafford has been used and abused by City.

I do wonder if the dips or rags had signed one of the worlds best keepers the media would be staffing until they were jizzing air.
Not everything is a conspiracy, plenty were on here saying it was harsh on Trafford weeks ago when it was announced we’d agreed terms with Donnaruma.

To the chant thread.

I’m sure it will be another rehashed shit chant.

We don’t to new annd original chants anymore.

Welcome. And I hope you do well.

In another side you'd be world class.

But under this manager, where we prize ball retention highly... I honestly think that you're a misfit.

Your distribution is not great and unlike PSG, we don't have the ability to easily cope with this.

I think we'll try to play out from the back almost always with Donnarumma, and because of this, Donnarumma will be caught out much more than Ederson or Trafford.

Did he tell you this?

How is competing with Donnarumma any different to competing with Ederson?
Not sure who in the right mind thinks they can just jump from being the no1 at a team that just won the championship, to instantly being the no1 at a team that competes to be the best club in Europe every single season.

There's not a prayer that the club tells any player (Haaland aside) that they're guaranteed to start

Donnarumma on the slide ask the BBC?

This the airtight PSG defence that just conceded three goals to mighty toulouse at the weekend.

I'm flabbergasted at how many people think we were gonna go into the season with a 22 year old from the Championship as our number 1.
Specially in possession Trafford looks really nervous still and the opposition senses that. That Spurs game ofcourse was very messy. We would have had the weakest GK pairing if we went in with Trafford+Ortega.

Haven't even read the media mate, for me it's a strange transfer. Someone at the club must know we need a right back and I am assuming Trafford didn't come back just to be someone's number 2 for 6 years.

Trafford will have known the score when he signed.

32, clearly on the decline, 1 year left on his contract vs 26, just signed for a big fee and among the highest earners in the squad for the next 6 years.

Why are you pretending these are the same scenarios?
Its not a big fee. Its less than what we paid for Trafford. That said its the better outcome for City which is what should matter at the end of the day. Citys GK today>Citys GK on 31st August.

There are absolutely NO guarantees in football, as I suspect you know. Does Trafford think he can be better than Donnaruma? I’d imagine he does.

Off your logic no youngish player should ever sign for anybody, if they’ve got a mid 20’s top player in front of him.

Why are you writing it as if he’s gonna read it and be upset.

Considering there were only 2 teams that conceded less than 10 shots per game last season, Arsenal and City, maybe this is just the signing we need to turn some results round.
