Have many of our “fans” become entitled?

This and only this, maybe there is a new generation of fans who expect to win because they have not known anything else and i would be more than happy if their nonsense toddled off to twitter or tik tok or wherever the kids hang out but for people who saw us at our worst the ideas remain the same anyone can lose a match, football is unpredictable and thats the nature of it BUT as long as the team tries then people will take it, if the players dont try then people are gonna be pissed and id say rightly so.
There was no lack of effort at Brighton. It was lack of stamina and a smart tactical move by Brighton to bring on four fresh subs at once and they ran us ragged in midfield. The Spurs defeat was also lack of stamina.

I think you can be unhappy with Soriano in isolation, for the direction he’s taking the club commercially
No you can’t , if you or anyone else have a problem with how the club works then you have a problem with the whole ownership. Soriano doesn’t have free unfettered reign. The club knew exactly who they were employing when he got the job , he’d have given his vision as part of his CV. He’d even written a book on it and wanted to introduce it at Barcelona.

In that case some serious questions need to be asked about our pre season preparation

The notion that "City always start slowly" is nothing more than desperation.

I think the FOC will always appreciate there will be a fall off, 4 in a row was supposed to be impossible

It's the 'new fans' from further afield who are creating most of the unrest around pep and the squad

I do question the motives of some of them

New to City ?
New to football ?
Lost money cos of City on betting sites ?

Some are very angry

People equate legitimate and valid criticism with "entitlement".

With the standards we set between 2017 and 2023, I think we're entitled to expect the highest standards, and are equally entitled to criticise when we fall below those standards. That 2023 Treble winning team was (according to the Club elo rankings) the best in PL history. Of course we aren't going to win every game and every trophy, but the standard we're currently setting simply isn't good enough.
Agreed. Valid criticism is healthy. But the small minority of poisonous personal attacks on players is appalling. A small section on this site just wallow in misery. I try to give them some slack because many of us face life challenges away from football and sometimes need to vent. But too much negativity drags everyone down.

I’ve singled him out as one of the ‘Barca boys’ of the namesake thread, which is what I was referring to - as in, with Pep and Txiki, I appreciate everything they have done.

Don’t worry I’m also pissed off at the club and ownership. No success is worth the commercialisation of match days and gentrification (by way of replacement) of the support.

What’s the difference between entitlement and expectation?

With so much recent success, the amount of money flowing into the club, the best manager in the world, why shouldn’t we continue to expect and want that success to continue?

It’s even more imperative when we see the alternative, fucking dippers winning stuff and signing top players. Or maybe Arsenal? Or perhaps some would be happy seeing the rags overtake us so they could go back to being moaning miserable bastards hating football?

Personally, having followed City since the late 80s I’ve seen both sides and am in no hurry to see the shit times return. I want more of the Centurions and Treble winning please, ideally with a couple of hugely expensive stars and a big fuck you to the cartel and rag/scouse loving media gobshites.

"Fans have become entitled" is an internet sentiment. Similar to "Only at City" and others.

The internet acts as a prism. Everyone can state their views, in theory equally. But if you tweet or post a thread somewhere saying "Kevin De Bruyne is a world class player" then 98% of people will not their heads and not bother replying. Loads of people will post "Agreed", one or two people (who usually don't know much abotu football) will post "No he isn't, he isn't consistent enough". An argument will break around around the contraversial comment, and some observers or participents will lose persective and see this argument as somehow reperesentative.

City fans haven't become "entitled". We don't boo the team. We rarely even moan in the stadium. We must be some of the most philosphical and forgiving fans in the game because we've had our success, we trust the club and we are patient enough to know that football changes and moves in cycles.

This is just another silly internet discussion, vewing things through a prism.

Well said, what's the point of winning things if you can't afford or they make it hard for you to see it.? I knew we'd gone full on when I saw that YouTube twat running around celebrating with the players at the cup final and ay Rodri's inauguration.

I get the distinct feeling that the marketing from this club isn't aimed at me anymore and the club doesn't celebrate with the fans but congratulates itself.

They do look a bit under-cooked. Not sure how much impact the CWC has had. It’s not an excuse. I thought the team on Saturday had plenty of passion (Kusanov had too much). We just ran out of steam.

Football clubs are commercialised in the hands of managers but in a systemic framework from which there is no escape. Any manager would be driven to do the same things. See Coops. They have a different ethos on paper but are forced to do the same things. Creating an island of virtue in a sea of inequity is not going to work.

As you were were the one who called me a fanny wipe six weeks ago for predicting that we'd suffer for not having a proper pre season I can only bow to your consistency

Too tired, not had enough rest, not match fit, however not having a decent pre season can most certainly affect a squad because some players aren't naturally fit.

It seems though that even keeping in shape isn't the responsibility of players these days.
