What has the UK become under the far right influence?

depends on your viewpoint doesnt it, the bigger issue for me is both sides are trying to take away the ability to have the debate, if you agree with the LBC idiot then you are a massive racist (according to some), if you agree with the lawyer you are supporting unfettered, uncontrolled immigration (according to some), the anger surrounding the issue is taking away the ability to have reasoned debate which is a really worrying trait of this whole thing.
He's committed a crime before he's even been fully processed. Toodle pip then. No idea why people think we should go through the cost of jailing him.

Im not saying my own opinion on the subject for the exact reasons i stated, the want to take away the ability to have a debate on the subject is the bigger thing in play.

For me, I don't think it's a far right view to agree that the guy should be immediately deported and then jailed (in his home country) based on his crime. It feels like common sense and justice.

Human rights is complex but it should be more straightforward in the case of criminals.

I dont disagree with you but thats my point entirely, they are trying to take the common sense out of it by stifling the ability to have a debate on the subject.

Take what you just said there, nothing wrong it, guy is here illegally, commits a crime and should be sent home, seems fair doesnt it and the vast majority of people would agree with you BUT then you will have people like that lawyer who say NO that isnt the case you are condemning that man to death and you are a heartless fiend and a racist to boot because that man isnt the same colour as you and the fact you want to condemn him to death therefore must mean you are a racist (even tho it doesnt) and therefore all common sense is taken out of it and the debate cant be had.

I agree and think i know what your view is. Suppose we’ve just got to keep giving our opinions otherwise people who can’t debate and just like to pigeon hole are winning.

having done some research - something not done by most - I have seen we have a returns agreement with Ethiopia signed September 2024 ( ie by the Starmer Govt ) therefore I would conclude that given the guy has been found guilty I would expect him to be jailed then on release deported to Ethiopia there should be no impediments to enabling that to happen

That is true they do win, the ironic thing about the world we live in is that opinions are now seen as fact and a stick to beat people with, in that debate on LBC it doesnt matter what your view is both of them are entitled to their OPINION and neither are right or wrong and that is what people need to get their head around, there are facts and there are opinions and they are not the same thing, nobody should be castigated for having an opinion no matter how misguided it is i mean i know people who think dippers arent cunts.

Not fussed what colour he is. By all means come here if you are fleeing persecution. Happy to help. But...abide by the rules. Its all very simple.

If not, back you go. There's no racism in this process.

Or maybe, send him back to whatever country in the EU processed him. But I would imagine we don't have the system or rights to do that. Mores the pity.

The problem the human rights lawyer has is that he is basically making the argument that the two situations are completely unrelated to one another. He's claiming it can be possible for someone to be a serious criminal and still have a genuine asylum case. But the reality is that committing a serious criminal offence is evidence that he doesn't have a genuine asylum claim, because someone fearful for their life will do everything they can to avoid jeopardizing their asylum case.

I didnt say you were mate, i was making the point about the overreactions and unnecessary suppositions that would and have been made on both sides.

what a strange man

He's probably the most high-profile example of someone completely ruined by social media. He seemed like a lovely bloke back in the day, and you only ever heard good things about him, but he's latched onto a cause, taken on this role as some sort of moral crusader, and been radicalized on Twitter over years. Having said that, have you actually seen what he was arrested for?

“If a trans-identified male is in a female-only space, he is committing a violent, abusive act. Make a scene, call the cops and if all else fails, punch him in the balls.”

I mean it's obviously a joke. A distasteful one perhaps, but can you genuinely make an argument that it's inciting violence? Although slightly ironic given that he calls a trans woman going into a female space a 'violent act' in the tweet.

Just a thought, but, If mainstream political parties gave a shit about the common man/woman then maybe Reform wouldn't be on the rise?
Deep down the Reform party really don't give a shit about the common man/woman - the Reform strategy is to pander to the common man/woman and tell them what they want to hear and when Reform get voted in - will make no ounce of difference to the common man/woman as it's all a play to get into power.

There are some extremely interesting/powerful people funding the likes of Farage, Tice, Lowe, Robinson etc. I have no doubt that Reform will win the next election, they need to find more MP's which I think they will as I expect lots of Tories will jump over. Next will be Jonathan Gullis jumping to them I assume after Mad Nadine.

Be like turkeys voting for Xmas.

I don’t think it’s that as such, it’s more at this current moment in time, what a lot of people care about (immigration) is pretty much their reason for existence. That and they haven’t been in power yet and are a new party.

Sky and BBC to show a minor politician with racist policies conference speech later.

That's part of the reason all this shit is happening. Indulging people with very questionable views and making them mainstream.

The media in the US created Trump. They are doing the same here. And should Reform get in they'll deny it and ask 'How the hell did this happen' acting shocked about it

wait a minute, you can be arrested for inciting violence online? about 90% of the people on the matchday thread best go into hiding immediately.
