Match Discussion - Chelsea (A) - 05/09/25 - WSL

Goal was Rose not tracking Beaver Jones run. She's a yard behind her and can't even put in a challenge. Carpenter isn't scoring from out wide so the centre half has to cover the run and didnt, giving her a tap in from 4 yards.
3 good chances versus their 2 but they've hit tha target both times and we haven't.
Been mostly outplayed after a good 10 minutes start but we should be Level.

Rose isn't playing solely as CB, though. Think she was coming back from mid at that point, I can't remember. For me, that's a slide block all day from Greenwood if she's not competing in the foot race.

If (Carpenter?) checks her cross, that's different, cos at least the defenders are back in position to cover, so no early pass.

We're not out of this yet. A bit more care on teh ball in the final 3rd and we could generate some good chances. Don't think Lily is quite ready to play games of this magnitude so it's a shame we have 3 forwards out that could be there instead. I generally like the structure of the team but not sure playing Hemp as an inverted winger moving into the #10 position is the answer. Maybe this role would've gone to Kerolin but she must've picked up an injury or something for not to be included in the squad.

Will also be interesting to see where Clinton fits in to this formation when she's ready.

Not as bad as some are saying - we need much more from Murphy who has not been effective in both attack and defence. Sydney and Yui look potentially very good. Don't forget this is a Chelsea side full of confidence playing at home. We just need to be calm and chances will come. Bunny has had 2 good efforts and we've hit the bar - although listening to the shite Sky commentary you'd think we've been lucky not to have 4 or 5 pens given just for turning up. They didn't even go on about a world class save from Yama - of that had been Hampton they would have gone on and on about it!

After that first half, I feel like City need to step it up , a bit quicker with the passing and more pressure get into them , especially Millie Bright, I always feel she got a mistake in her. At the moment it feels like a pre-season game .

It was a very good pass, and a decent cross, but the keeper dived into nomans land, and the CB was much the wrong side of the scorer, it was an all round poor goal for me.
Bit harsh on Yama that no keeper is saving that from 5 yards out - you are right though about Rose being on the wrong side and the signs from Carpenter were there and Murphy needs to stop being no help either end.

We are playing well now unlucky not to score there - lovely move. Sydney growing into the game.

Hasigawa looks a fantastic player. Hemp dangerous as always. Same with Shaw.

All over them here on their own patch.

The left-sided CB reminds me of Van de Ven in how she runs!
