How good was Yaya?!

And the chant is spot on - pay me some more.

A greedy fuck, all about self, but hugely gifted - but lazy... mostly on defense (but when he set his mind to defend he was world class).

For me, if Yaya put 100% into his game, he'd have been among the top 3 in the world. But he never did this throughout a game.

Yaya was potentially the best footballer in the world, but he lacked the mental discipline (mostly) and drive to make this so.
Never read such bollocks in my life

What was the furthest we got in the CL with him in the team? And someone claimed hes in top 5 players of all time? Mental.

A great player for us, at a great time and a big game player but the off field stuff will always tarnish him.

Does he get into a midfield ahead of rodri, kdb and silva?

He won us a league or two but the others went even further not only winning leagues but smashing them, breaking record after record, trophy after trophy inc the big one.
Using your criteria Colin Bell wouldn't get into the top 5 then

How far did he get us in the European cup, he didnt win us a leagu e or two, etc.
You're letting you hatred of the man (who I presume you've never met) stop you from admitting what a great player he was for us

No I am not apart from actually being a **** we have had better before and since.

You think someone who called Pep a racist isn't a **** ? You have a high bar for cunts.
While the accusation that Pep Guardiola is racist is often linked to Yaya Touré, the record shows a more complex story. It is accurate to state that Yaya Touré himself never directly accused Guardiola of racism. The initial claim was made publicly by his agent, Dimitri Seluk.

At the time, Touré did not refute his agent's inflammatory statement, a silence that was widely interpreted as endorsement. However, he later publicly addressed the issue, explicitly denying that he believed Guardiola was racist. Instead, Touré characterized their conflict as a personal disagreement rather than one based on prejudice.

This eventual clarification included a public apology for the misunderstanding, marking a direct disassociation from his agent's earlier comments, which also included other frivolous claims.

For verification, these events are a matter of public record and can be easily corroborated by reviewing the timeline of interviews and statements from May and June of 2018.

Nope Yaya said it in an interview he specifically said that Pep doesn't like black African players fuck knows why some on here make excuses for him.

There are links on this thread showing that.

I am not defending Yaya at all, I am correcting the record. If you have a video please show it. There is a "France Football" written interview where he states that Pep has issues with African players and he was wrong and he later apologized; all a matter of record: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/42...g-guardiola-of-having-problems-with-africans/

To add things he hasn't said is unfair... that's my position

As a footballer he was a phenomenon; that is undeniable no matter how much he is disliked by a few.

It's in the guardian and other reputable papers, not all interviews are recorded. He hasn't got a statue because the club knows what he is.

Or he'd have gotten one.

Look, I love Rodri to death, but on their best day, I'm taking Yaya

I realize I may get slaughtered for this, but it's the truth

Peak Yaya Toure was well ahead of Rodri and KDB imo. Only David Silva gets close to Yaya in the modern age.

As I've said before, if we had won the CL along the way, Yaya Toure would have got the Ballon D'or. He was the complete footballer.

If Yaya had been playing for the rags or Liverpool in 2014, I'd still say hhee was the best player on the planet. The man was a phenomenal footballer.

It's pointless arguing with people on here who only judge him on non-football matters.

He isn't the best player we have had in the modern era, believe it or not mate some people believe that.

Rodri was voted best player on the planet when he actually scored the goal that won us the chumps league.

Giving an example how thd rags or scouse would have lauded him isn't up to much, they laud everything that has a pulse over at their places.

I refuse to argue with you. You're a proper pal :-)

I wasn't saying what the rags or Liverpool would have lauded him, I'm saying that I would still think the same about him even if he was one of their players

As I said earlier; if we'd won the CL in 2014, Yaya would almost certainly have won the Ballon D'or. By the same token, if Ederson hadn't kept us in the game against Inter, Rodri definitely wouldn't have won the Ballon D'or. That would have gone to Vinicius Jr (for obvious reasons of course).

I leave in peace ;-)
