How good was Yaya?!

He was definitely a clutch player. Big occasion he put in big performances and scored big goals.

However loads of games he'd be blowing out of his arse after 5 minutes, and for a big guy I never seen him win a header.

The season where he scored a load of free kicks he was magnificent, but he had a lot of games he couldn't be arsed

Winner v QPR in 2011/12 3-2.

Yaya played well, city won. He was unplayable at his best. So odd that he banged in about 5 free kicks 13/14 and never took them before or after from what I remember. West Ham away in his first season, the day the world realised he wasn’t a DM.

Imo the best ever City player and the best midfielder in PL history.
I have to agree with you fully there. Whilst Silva was effortless and like watching ballet, Sane a darting Springbok, Aguero a killing machine, Tevez a raging bull and Gareth Barry like a fine reliable motor, Fernandino a charismatic destroyer, Yaya had the finesse, ruthlessness and drive all in one. Loved watching him. On reflection all their unique identities made the team a great joy to watch. We don’t have those individual personalities and qualities in our team any more sadly. Things have become a lot duller. Should add we could do with a bit of the nastiness of Bellamy and De Jong in our team.

Utterly brilliant .. but a bit of a bellend
Can't believe blues put Yaya Toure as a bellend.
One of Greatest footballers of all time
And you have to find off field negatives.....
WTF?
Cant cope with this pull our player down stuff.
It's embarrassing. Why focus on the negative stuff.
He is not a bellend!! A Footballer ,one of the Greatest of all time
He played for us....and you find time ..to focus on media quotes off field stuff
The Man is a Legend.
A Blue Legend. ..speaks 6 Languages played football in 6 different Countries
Played out of position in a European cup final as a centre back marking Wayne Rooney out of the game..Goes to City and brings the title and Fa cup,
And you....think he's a bellend, not something you would say to his face?
Based on media reports you use the word bellend to describe the greatest Footballer I've ever seen
Leave it out.

Lots of hatred on here which is sad. I'd say have a dig at him, but some of the stuff on here goes beyond that and into pure hatred. Don't get it. Probably the same kind of people that keep me well away from Off Topic (Christ that used to be a really good forum).

Fuck me we are stuck with that old sock again are we?

Toure behaved appallingly and isn't getting a statue because of his behaviour and you have posters asking.

Why do you hate him?

Just to clarify, it's the club that didn't build him a statue and it's Khaldoon and Pep who had to defend Pep in the press because of him.

My favourite all time City player until KDB came along, who I think stands alone as by far City’s best ever player for me…and yes I saw Bell :-)

I think Yaya might have appeared better than KDB when Yaya was at his best but he wasn’t. There was just a bigger gap between their best and worst with Yaya.

Yaya varied between 5 and 10 KDB varied between 7 and 10.

Yaya was perfect to get City to the next level and was a mentality monster.

Different opinions not for you then. What was I thinking how outlandish to think Bell, Silva and KDB were greater City players than Toure, probably just me then.

No offence meant my apologies, the conversation was heading in tte who was actually the best in top form, the most talented if you like. I cannot really think of a skill set that those great players had that YaYa didn't possess.

I also said post Bell as I never saw him play.

Bell KDB Silva and other players will go down as bigger legends for their skill effort and longevity. Same as my favourites Sergio Zabba and Dinho. We are lucky we have loads.

Are any.of them actual better at playing the game of football though? I think not.. He could defend, pass short, pass long , dictate tempo, bounce players off him like little children, was very quick and could run through teams, he scored great free kicks and hit some amazing thunderbastard goals.

I can't think.of many players who could do all.that and at that level.

In fact I can't think of any apart from him.
