Onana is reportedly close to a loan move to Trabzonspor so who will Utd play in goal in the Derby? The choice is the inexperienced new signing Lammens and Bayindir who is struggling with crosses. What if Lammens makes a mistake in the Derby, then you have 2 keepers under pressure and the only back-up they have is the 39 year old Tom Heaton. I can't believe that they a major football club should take on such risk.

They should be alright with the one who struggles with crosses. Ours dont beat the first man on the rare occasion we try it.

Doku and Bobb are a lot better than you think. If Bayindir plays, crosses into Haaland, and corners and set pieces will become important.

Hopefully

I mostly just see Doku blast it into the full backs legs when we plays for us
He's young and getting better. He scored twice for Belgium last night and got an assist.

In many games last season he was our sole attacking threat and hence he was double-marked and many of his attacks ran into blind-alleys because the defence could suffocate him. He will do better in a better side.

They are not really a major club, Ask Grimsby.

Trying to work out who is and isn’t fit for Sunday is a little tricky.

By my rough calculations on who is still on international duty we have Donnarumma, Trafford, Dias, Bernardo, Bobb, Haaland and Marmoush still to play again. Only Donnarumma plays today, the rest plat tomorrow evening.

Rodri, Doku, Reijnders and Ake are all finished international duty and should be back whenever training resumes.

Nico, Nunes and Savinho weren’t called up. Hopefully Savinho is fit for Sunday.

The players withdrawn were Stones, Khusanov, Ait Nori, O’Reilly and Lewis plus Foden wasn’t considered. Of those I think Lewis and O’Reilly should be fine. Ait Nori played 90 minutes against Brighton and I think was more rested to recover. Khusanov’s injury was to rule him out for 2 weeks so he is touch and go. Stones and Foden are the most of concern based on last season.

Longer term injuries were Gvardiol, Cherki and Kovacic. No idea the issue on Gvardiol, Kovacic should be back soonish but Cherki is out for longer spell.

Have we really reached the point where we're hoping that rags get injured to give us a better chance in a derby?

I want them at full strength in every derby. No excuses.

One of these days I'm hoping to see City at full strength too ..... it just seems to be one injury after another at City nowadays.

I am still struggling to understand how Man Utd can loan out Onana, and leave themselves reliant on Lammens and Bayindir. Even if they have glowing reports om Lammens, how can they know how he will perform in the Premier League? They can't possibly know. It's a gamble. I think this reflects very badly on Amorim and their football management team.

How much worse can he do than Onana?

Good job that Pep didn’t get his way and have a smaller squad of 21/22 players. We wouldn’t have had anyone on the subs bench on Sunday.
Don't think he ever wanted 21 players, he acknowledged last season he needed a bigger squad. At the end of the season he said the squad at about 27 was too much. Think we have 24 now which is about right and probably what he's happy with.

I mean what sort of team would start a brand new goalie in a derby!!!!

He has consistently said he doesn’t want players left at home so that is where the 21 comes from. 11 + 9 + 1 (3rd goalkeeper). To be honest he has flipped back and forth but one thing last season proved is you need a large squad to compete in multiple competitions because injuries appear inevitable. If we really gave nine injured then we are already in some trouble.

I will be surprised if Donnarumma plays.

Only going to be with the squad for around 2 days before match day

Can see Pep giving Trafford the derby and Donnarumma will come in against Napoli.
