Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

I'm sure Pep will want to leave on a high and therefore he will be doing everything in his power to figure it out and I for one think this is not a recruitment problem and those that think the RB issue defines our season haven't been watching us for the past decade. The lack of belief is a concern but that's a coaching conundrum

True all the teams that target our right hand side. It must be random. What I always love to read is the word „ past „. Sorry but football moves on

The minimum I want to see is effort so can’t argue with you on that ……yes last season wasn’t good enough, but I’m saying I still back Pep and the club to sort it out - I can handle us not winning anything again for another season without wanting the board and manager sacked.

The worst thing we could do as a club is overreact and become utd-esque - sack Pep, get a new head of football or whatever the hell and say we need success again NOW

I also enjoy the challenge of seeing us progress youth, bed in new signings and build a squad capable of winning the prem again……I don’t want us to sign the very best at 200m a go and bring in a new manager and win the title this season.

I disagree with you - Pep is still the world class manager he always has been, if we give him time and the players then he will bring a shed load of more trophies.
I can handle us not winning anything. I’ve stated elsewhere and in here how I want an improvement in playing style. For the riches we have and a manager like Pep, the dross served up isn’t good enough. Whilst in transition winning things will be very difficult so as long as there’s progress I’ll be happy.

You say doing a united would be the worst thing, but not calling time at the end of a season, having a manager start a rebuild for it then to fail is dangerous too. I wanted a fresh man with fresh ideas behind this rebuild. That didn’t happen and whilst I didn’t want pep behind this, he has to be given the time to sort it. I’ll still call out shite though.

You’ve contradicted yourself a touch by saying give him time and the players. That’s my point that we haven’t gone for them right players in my opinion. We’ve been sold short with a right back, we’ve gone for cheaper alternatives which doesn’t mean they will fail but it’s a level below in quality. His success here wasn’t built on bringing youth through like you’re excited to see here. It was built on spending a lot of money on getting the level of player required to play the football he wants. He is then asking younger players and lesser quality players to do that now. Your undying loyalty is admirable and I wish I was as optimistic in viewing Pep. I’m just going off the most recent season start to the new season with a miserable club world club thrown in

I’m not happy with where we are right now but I do believe we will have a much better season than last year….I desperately wanted a right back, defensive midfielder that shows real promise and another top striker.

However I do think we need to be a bit patient, I’m sure we’re being held back a little bit by the 115 charges in subtle ways maybe but still needs sorting.

I just grew up supporting us when we were utter shite and it didn’t matter - cried when we got relegated each time and it just made me a stronger person….loved the highs but also the lows as it made me appreciate those highs like Wembley play off final, still can’t believe Dickov saved that strike for that moment ….Weavers heroics, Goater pinching the ball off Neville etc…..but yeah last 15 years have been amazing and I’ve loved seeing us become the force we are - this feels like a blip in the road, even if Pep leaves, I feel confident in the chairman more than anybody to take the overview and bring the right people in.

We will challenge again in the near future and I’m comfortable waiting for that moment and patient enough to give Pep longer if he chooses to embrace the fight.

I might not have the best grasp of the issues this team is facing, but from what I’ve seen - Pep definitely needs to go back to the drawing board as the whole league has figured out how to exploit his defensive system & the offense isn’t pressing up the field and catching the defenders on the backfoot as much. We’re a bit too predictable.

On the defensive side, it feels like we’re missing a bit of nastiness. Everyone knows our right side is weak at the moment, but aside from Rodri and sometimes Dias, none of the players on the back half of the pitch seem to give the attacking forwards any pause about taking them on. We could use a bit of that back in our lineup.

Overall, feels like we could use a bit less structure and a bit more creativity & nastiness. Just my take from across the pond!

We are too nice across the entire pitch and have been for a few seasons now . Could do with a Tony Adams at the back and a David batty patrolling midfield and a Duncan Ferguson throwing his weight around upfront . First 15 mins of a game throw abit of spite in there and crunch them like ferdy used to do .

This swas Peps set up at Bayern the year lewandowski got 50+ and the walked it

Like here he plalyed bot fullback incerted, however he didn't push them up on the flanks or cantral atrack, he sat them next to Alonso as a aseecond defence and allowed the front 5 do the high press and overrun the oposition defence.

feel if he insists on inverted fullbacks he should use them this way

He also. ahd a 3-4-3 formation with the fullback. playing wing back

Personally I want him to try the second one with Stones-Khush-Gvardiol as our back 3

Bobb would be my wing back choice but could be easily belewis or nunes

The problem is our wide players are not as good, Stones is regularly injured khus is new and Nico G is not Lahm.

At the end of the day you firstly need the players and then pick a system to fit or have a style of play in mind and buy the best players available for that way of playing.

I'm not sure if tte problem is the style or the players, probably a bit of both.

I see Pep had a lovely day on the golf course discussing tactics with Tommy Fleetwood. I hope Tommy gave him a few tips :-)

There's a mental issue with players at the moment and I'm not convinced that players are actually putting a shift in for Pep anymore.

They don't look ready to run through walls to make sure they are first to every ball anymore; even with the new players.

Its early in the season but unless there's a massive mental shift I'm thinking we need Louis Enrique to continue with Peps work from next season.

Luis Enrique is the only manager I want to replace pep.

Said that round Christmas last year and still think it now .

I think this is Peps Fergie season to win the league back and then go, Ferguson was due to go when we won it in 2012 but stayed to go out on a high, I think Pep will try to do the same, the players we’ve bought aren’t Pep players but then again I don’t see those type of players available anymore, unfortunately Pep will not change his philosophy, a new DoF, his best mate Tixi gone, if and that’s a big IF we win the league then I think he will go.

If you're reading this Pep, thank you but we all need a 93.20 performance on Sunday, a 22 May 2022 performance, a City 4 - 0 Madrid performance. I don't want to hear post match we were the better team for 60 minutes. PS you're still the GOAT

I'm a long way from being convinced that our new players have 'bought in' to Pep's style of play, and agree that most of the others have grown tired of things... probably worn down by his intensity.

He burned out most of the CL winning squad over the following 'four in a row' season, and we saw a significant decline in performance and attitude last season.

It looks like players (and many fans) have started to tire of him. It's already well past time for a change imo.

If we see anything other than a convincing win on Sunday, I would expect a proper football Board to be asking serious questions. Given that this is the 'Pep obsessive' CFG Board, they'll probably offer him an extension.

Time for a change whatever the result on Sunday.

Why? Where's he going? No one told us that Pep was leaving. Is this a news item that has passed m by during a busy week?

Nobody stays for ever EB, and every day (and poor performance) brings the inevitable departure closer.

We're reaching a period that could determine just how much longer Pep is likely to be at the helm. It's been a wonderful ride, but we've been worked out and caught up by too many coaches and teams to think that Pep's tactics/system are good enough for the future.
