Championship thread | 2025/26

Someone better keep Sean Bean away from the cutlery drawer. T'Blades getting twatted 5-0 at Ipswich tonight. And yes; they've been as shite as the score suggests.

After everything that Wednesday have been through this summer its incredible that they aren't even the biggest crisis club in their own city!

Hopefully the regulator will kick that parasite out. He's not fit and proper.
The regulator has no right to "kick someone out". As much as football fans think, they do not own their clubs. Only 2 years ago he was their "hero" when they won the play offs then next season invested heavily in an attempt to get them in the Premier League.

Would you want to walk away with nothing after investing your millions?

Thankfully these awful regulators will not have the power to remove rightfully owned property from somebody who bought them no matter how much a bastard he is in ensuring he gets his money back.

I think you'll find the regulator will have the power to disbar rogue owners. Watch this space...

Wednesday three down at home v Bristol City at half-time.
We had nothing, I think we got away with it only being 0-3

The actions of a desperate man, absolutely bonkers!!

He was no hero, we were promoted due to Darren Moore and his team, despite Chancer's erratic running of the club.

On your 2nd point of invested heavily for the 23/24 return to the Championship season. We spent about £1.5m on transfers with the rest being loans and free transfers.

This put us in the bottom 6 or 7 teams in the division on spending.

Chancer spent all his money in his first 2 season 2015-16 & 2016-17, since then it's been very sparse spending wise.

Like all gamblers he went all in and it failed.

They will not. They might be able to question or in extreme cases block any potential "new owners" but any attempt to kick out an existing owner who legally acquired a club will end up in a costly legal battle and given the meagre monies allocated to the regulator. One cannot see them being anything other than another quango.

Southampton v Portsmouth on ITV1 this morning at 11.30am.

This is a big rivalry, two rival cities only 20 miles apart, they hate each other, but they’ve hardly ever played each other in football history. There’s only been 71 South Coast Derbies, ever.
Compared to 196 Manchester derbies, 236 Merseyside derbies (291 including war year matches) or 361 Old Firm derbies.

There’s only been 1 derby played between these two in the last 13 years, and only 10 this century.

To try and avoid any trouble Pompey fans attending have to get coaches at designated spots in Portsmouth and only then do they get given their ticket. Dropped off in a fenced off car park and straight in ground.

They like to think of it as being as big as the other derbies you mentioned. As intense? Hmm, maybe. But as big? No chance.
