Distinctly average opening 45.

This right-hand side from an attacking aspect is a complete waste of time and it makes us easier to defend against, even when they only have 10 men. Unsurprisingly, Khusanov isn’t going to be creating, so it needs someone in front of him who can. Bernardo going over there just doesn’t work, I don’t know how many times Pep has to watch this before he finally realises.

Rodri has been excellent, running the show in the middle. Foden decent. Reijnders is starting to wind me up already.

They’ve offered nothing and they’re not likely to. We need to step it up because they will be delighted with a 0-0.
Can read bernardo like a book.

He receives it, carries the ball down the wide area, shimmies and passes it back inside.

Rinse and repeat.

Not too worried.

An Italian team with a man sent off has licence to play the most aggressive catenaccio they can. And we're still breaking in plenty of times.

Their goalie is keeping them in this. That isn't lasting forever. We're creating good chances. Just keep challenging them and the goal is coming. Would like to see Sav come on and start running at people, but don't know who I'd take off because nobody is really playing badly in attack.

Cant make my mind up about Antonio Conte. Any other bloke who had a hair transplant and then dyes it jet black at 56 years old would be an immediate **** in my book, but he is classic Italian male. Picture him shagging a lass and then booting her off the back of his Vespa after hes dropped her back home. Hard to dislike, hes nearly as classic Italian as Bobby Manc
He'd be perfect for the Barcodes when Howe joins England next season.

The change in philosophy is a breath of fresh air to me. No more passing out from the back all the time, and the slow sideways and backwards has definitely been a lot less tonight. I’m loving this new style, go long when we have to, more forward penetrating passes, far more crosses, even if they don’t come off, it’s miles better to watch, adds a bit of risk. Hopefully we get the reward.

Old city is back, with Rodri back in the MF we have controlled the game against 11 and then 10, but absolutely ineffective. Right side is totally dead and there was less and less of Doku as the game progressed.
The second half will be like wresting with a pig...

Give it 10-15 mins, then I’d be tempted to get Nunes and Bobb/Savinho on for O’Reilly and Bernardo. Nunes wide right, Gvardiol playing narrower from left back.
