Napoli (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

The ideal game ahead of the Tarquins. If we can grab a point(or even better) then this last week would of been fantastic, especially how we were thinking it could go before bummin the scum. Very satisfactory result indeed. :)

Doku with a repeat of his move against United for the Foden goal except on the opposite side. Interesting to see him more central this season. Nice calm finish as well.

Foden looking like he's going to have a good season again. Finding lots of space and willing to turn instead of being the bounce ball like he was last year.

Haaland scored a lovely little header.

Khusanov played a couple of decent crosses and some nice switches. Loved his defensive action in the first half where he almost got beat a couple of times before getting a block in. This kid is wild. Him and Gvardiol - chef's kiss

O'Reilly doing his bit as well.

Silva needs to be proactive attacking instead of just playing the ball back inside. When he's trying to create he does decent

I thought we were very good..not easy playing against 10 men Italian sides..they love to defend and because they were a man down they didn't really get forward so it was even harder to find space.
Phil is looking like he's enjoying his football again
Erling doing what he does best..Doku getting better and Rod looks like he's getting to the pace of the game.
Khus and O'Reilly very good again.
Donna is a calming influence and Josko good again.
TJ played well too.
2-0 is a good start to the Champions League for us.

Needed that , in plenty of ways. Couldn't make it due to the stupid arse Thursday night game and my ultimate weakness of putting my girls before anything or anyone else, but I'm sat here on my third beer after several weeks of being unable to drink, appreciating city after a season and a bit of wondering what the hell is going on. Saw the second half just about, and well happy.

Pep is right, the chemistry is there. Just needs the right catalyst. If Doku does that more often he's world class, unplayable. I was worried he was going down the wormhole of no end product, but I see progress.

Haaland, phenomenon. Haaland doesn't look for goal, the goal looks for Haaland.

That game was going nowhere for 56 minutes, mainly because Napoli's rigid defensive shape was blocking us at every turn ..... and then suddenly, it happened
.
Excellent 'chipped' ball from Foden to Haaland , and the finish was inevitable, the deadlock was broken ..... soon to be followed by a brilliant goal from the elusive Doku .... shifting his body one way and then the other he must have taken four Napoli players out of the game as he stormed through before sliding the ball through their keepers legs from an angle.

The win never looked likely on that 56 minute mark, but come the end of play we can look back on that game and say that we saw a really professional performance from City there .... they 'plugged away', they found a way through, and they made the three points happen.

I’m extremely worried about how shit Donnarumma is with his feet and his flapping at corners. We simply cannot play without Ederson. Can’t believe the club.
He’s fucking brilliant int he. Calm as fuck with his feet. Yeh not as good a passer as Eddy but who is? Much more commanding and dominating than Eddy. Could be our best signing of the season

Excellent 3 points. Even before the sending off we just looked like we’ve found another level of performance and fitness.

Rodri looking assured, Phil with his swagger back, love Khusanov and Donnarumma just exudes calm and confidence. That centre back pairing looks mint, Ruben looking like his old self.

It looks a really happy camp.

Job well done and nothing much to add, red card changed the game a lot. Great and very important 3 points. Savinho is a bit of a worry for me, maybe should have sold him to Tottenham , adds absolutely nothing atm.
Yep, agree about Savinho ..... but there again, i never really rated him during his days at Gerona either ..... he seems to spend most of his minutes out on the pitch just trying to win penalties.

Got to disagree with that mate. I was 100% certain the breakthrough would come. We were wearing them out like Peps past teams. It was only a matter of time. We could have had 4 or 5 easily but understandably took our foot off the gas. People just need to be patient this season. And when everyone is back fit, what a team we will have
