4 | Tijjani Reijnders - 2025/26

Not sure how to appraise his performance today. Got into some good positions and then didn't quite execute. So do you praise him for getting in the right spots or criticise for not quite getting it right?

Lovely player to watch though and I can feel big goals in him
It’s seemingly a patten with him already. He makes a lot of odd decisions. A poor pass here, a nothing shot there. He started off great but he’s been really bad since the Wolves game. He needs time to find his feet but I’m not sure he deserves his place in the side at the moment.

Clearly needs time to adapt. He hasn’t started well but on the positive side there have been moments where he has shown his quality. Hopefully by Xmas he will be up and running.

Thing is he started so brightly expectations went a bit over the top. Especially after the Wolves game.

Reijnders is one of those players that is able to step up a level. He never seem to catch the eye immediately. This is what happened at AZ Alkmaar, at AC Milan and with the Dutch national team. He will here as well. My guess is he needs time, but not a lot. The step up from La Liga is simply huge.
He’s come from Serie A mate, for me he looks to pass the ball too quickly instead of carrying it for a bit then passing it, his thought process needs to be quicker.

The hardest thing for any midfielder to do is to arrive in space and have the time to get efforts on goal. The fact is he is already doing that means it will only be a matter of time before the goals start to flow.

He has all the attributes needed to do well but as others have said it takes a few more games to get fully into the rhythm of a new team. Confidence will be key - for me I like him and the way he plays with a positive attitude.

New player to the league in taking time to adapt shocker.

This kid will end up being a great player for us - in time.

yeah, echo the above, you get the players who hit the floor running and you get the slow burners. We've traditionally had the latter, in my opinion, and Reijnders is no different. I think he'll be steady like this for a little while yet.

Just needs time to adapt. He's come from a side that didn't dominate the ball the way we do and he needs to balance his desire to make things happen quickly, with being more composed on the ball. It's not easy, but it will come in time.

He is obviously very talented, but how can anyone get into the City style after half a dozen games? He will settle, and create and score goals for us. He might even become one of our most important attacking options.

Making great runs getting into good positions. If he keeps doing that Things will start to go his way. Big Erl should’ve scored from a peach of a cross he put in first half and he nearly repeated bergkamps goal against Newcastle with a great touch round their cb in first half. He needs a goal I think to get his confidence up again.

feels a littler overeager perhaps, and is making him rash on the final action. I don't think it is a huge problem, will go with time. It's obviously in there.

I am very confused about the way people talk about him because I think he was very good yesterday? What am I missing? Why are people qualifying it with "needs time" or other bullshit people say when players have stinkers?

Really bizarre, feel like i'm taking crazy pills reading some of the comments, what game was I watching?

I thought he was good yesterday aswell, alright in the derby, great against Wolves, anonymous against Spurs and shite against Brighton which isn't too bad for a new signing as a whole.

Needs time to find the pace of the league. We have no control with him in there presently. I think he’ll come good.

Not good enough at the moment. It’s not his fault but it’s really annoying we’re sacrificing Foden’s growth as a 10 to play this guy further up the pitch because he’s not an orthodox 8.
