Arsenal (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Is it because of there being more teams in the champions league that games are played on Thursday? I’ll take that result given the short rest. They played their hearts out and being that it’s only September I can’t be too upset about taking a point away. Look at how Arsenal celebrated a draw lol Come talk to me again in February and March.

Some great defensive work, but at times the midfield looked a bit leggy and devoid of energy

However most of would of us have settled for a draw so onwards and upwards

Beat Burnley and Brentford and it will feel like a decent start

I think Marmoush was a miss today. Having him today with Haaland and Doku would've give us another outlet with pace for Arsenal to worry about on the counter

1 point away to Arsenal, especially with them having almost twice as much rest as us since the teams last games, is good enough. But considering we drop points in half of our other games, we needed the 3 points today. Hopefully the team only gets better going forward.

Disappointed, but that is normal given we were close to taking all three points.
I felt we brought pressure on ourselves by defending so in many respects we lost the gamble that they couldn't break through us.

Haaland should probably have played to Foden when we had a great counter... but its easy to see things from the armchair.

A draw is probably a fair result. Neither of us looked amazing but I do feel we have room for improvement whilst Arsenal are probably as good as they're going to get.

Onwards and upwards.

What a ludicrous comment.

Tell you what, take a still and Photoshop it to put Donnarumma on the line. Now see how stupid he'd have looked.
Because the only options are being where he was in no mans land or glued to his line arent they? Ludicrous comment indeed.

There’s been a major improvement in the team over the last three games. We are moving in the right direction and Pep is generally picking the right team. Hopefully we will continue to improve as the season goes on. Liverpool can’t keep scrambling victories every week - can they ?
No they’ll kick on into gear at some point. We’re not at their level and unlikely to be but that the performance has given me confidence we can win something this year.

I can't fault the approach.

Arsenal had 2 more days rest, force Arsenal to legitimately create a goal, and score a counter.

Just unlucky to concede that, but they were trying all game and it's why defending for so long is not a good long term goal.

But this felt like for a particular reason, I dont think we defend in a 541 for more than half a game normally, but we had less energy clearly.
YES.
I think that this was a pivotal moment for me in seeing what I hoped for - a more varied approach, especially for different opponents.
If we play the possession game all the time, opponents just let us have it, shut off passing lanes, and beat us on the break. It's dull as hell but they know, against us, that is the only way to win. If we can use our possession game, but also learn how to sit in and explode on the break, it will be very hard to beat us over 90.
We also need to remember that we have a number of first-team injuries, so options are more limited.

Sucker punch hurts but we're in a better place now than two weeks ago when we were being slapped about by Spurs and Brighton.
