Arsenal (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Can’t imagine other teams do this in the regular. So much energy used. My heart was racing for 90 mins. No wonder you can’t win the league with that football. I’m happy we have it in our locker tho

Decent result but should never have played that sort of way. Doku top class. Nunes did his job. Line was too high for the goal. O’Reilly did well. Overall, could be worse.
Playing the ‘City way’ the last 12 months or so ….pass pass then give it away and concede on the counter has not worked with a different set of players.

No problem with Pep introducing a bit of practicability today.

to bad we could not hold on 3 points, but what a fight from us, happy with one point
Away against one of the 2 favorites to win the league.

They have almost 2 class players on every position. We are not really there yet with the rebuild we are on. But I must say I give my self a fucking red card I wined about getting a keeper and not focus on a right defender, but I’m so glad we took the opportunity to sign Big D he is the best there is.

Madrid under Ancelotti won their last couple of champions leagues with this exact type of football. When you have the right players it works. Madrid 1 nil against the dippers for example.
It's not the way we have won anything in the past decade. It's not our game, you might get away with a point here and there or even a win - how many times have we played teams who have parked the bus and hit us late on the break? Southampton have done it a couple of times. But it doesn't usually win matches, few teams hold out for 90 minutes.

In isolation, that would be a good result. In the wider context of the Brighton and Spurs losses rendering it must-win, it was shit. The subs were self-sabotage, we looked much more secure before them. Piss poor from Pep.

Onwards and upwards.

Dreadful analysis.

Players were knackered after playing 3 games in a week vs United, Napoli and Arsenal - changes would always be needed at some point. A week ago everyone was saying how hard it was going to be and we’ve ended up with 2 wins and a draw.

Worth noting that Arsenal also played Tuesday and we played Thursday. They also had players coming back from injury and ready to bring in whilst we’re still missing key players in our squad and also lost our right back to injury as well.

On the replay it looked like Eze manage to block off the pass, might have been the angle they shown tho
Yeah fair enough mate - maybe wasn’t as straightforward as it looked - but was our best chance to close out at 2 nil I thought

City played well - out Arsenal'd us. I think we went too defensive in the 1st half but City were always a threat on the break.

Not sure why Pep took Haaland off - that was basically a cue for us to just go full Alamo on the City goal as the main counter attack threat was off and Arteta took off Timber and stuck Martinelli up top as a result.

Draw probably fair - for all our possession I think Donnarumma had like 2 or 3 saves to make. We were lucky not to concede a 2nd on the break when Eze kicked it against Rice and it flew over. Ref was somewhat lenient to Silva in the 1st half when he was on a yellow and stupidly kicked it against Trossard however I thought there was a foul in the build up to our equaliser and was expecting VAR to look at it. I haven't seen the replay but it seemed like our defender fouled your attacker before the ball went up to Martinelli.

We've finally scored against Donnarumma! Was surprised with how well City defended TBH - nullified our corners, got their heads onto crosses and this after playing on Thursday night.
More perspective than some so-called Blues on here.

Khusanov was outstanding first half.
Nunes fantastic in 2nd half.
Haaland should have squared it to foden and we would have wrapped the game up.
Donarumma was in no man's land for the goal but other than that was great.
Doku very good.

Yeah it’s not our way but our way doesn’t work right now. Why do u only expect Plan A?

Would have snapped your hands off for a draw pre-match. Really, really wanted to shithouse a 1-0 at the emirates though and we really should have, we did everything to take the win there. Donnarumma played well but he fucked us at the end.
No he didn’t. Stop trying to find ways to justify your big summer ramblings about him ;)

I agree but I don’t think this is the game to change it up when it seemingly worked for a large part of the first half. We weren’t even playing the city way then (counter-attacking) but when you take all of your attacking hope off and just hope you can hold up and go on to concede, there’s no chance of fighting back to win.
