What has the UK become under the far right influence?

If you look back over thousands of years then yes, but you can say that about every country in existence.

We had pretty much a thousand years of not being invaded and the majority of migrants coming here in that time were from Ireland, who shared similar culture and values. Then before that time and during we had celts and Britons - they didn’t just disappear. Welsh language is one of the oldest in the world for example.

Even looking at the 50s and 60s, the numbers were tiny compared to now. Yes we’ve had immigrants, but for a long time there has been a settled population, with not much immigration.
I do say it about every country in existence.
It's a personal view, but the sooner as we see each other as the same race the better.
Once we begin to look for the values we share, life becomes a whole lot easier.
I live in a deeply multi-cultural area and see a love of family, good food, and a desire to be safe. I see people trying to make ends meet, pay their bills, and earn money. These are the universal values I choose to focus on.
I am up now about to watch the boxing - sport is another commonality, as is music.

I have absolutely no problem with immigration, but then I also wish to travel and immerse myself in other cultures. My family chooses a different path and we have crossed it many times. They will be looking at their video doorbell, CCTV, and dashcams and building up their resentment while digesting the bile from GB News and the Daily Mail. I will be seeking new pastures and discovering new horizons. I will know that I have my own cultural heritage, but I will feel it enhanced by the vibrancy around me.

The real problem, IMO, are those politicians who have sown the seeds of hatred to feather their own nests, and those papers who have indulged them because of their own tax-dodging status-quo that they wish to maintain. They have carried enormous influence resulting in what we saw in London yesterday. They have convinced people with nothing that others with nothing are the biggest danger to them. I think those are the words of charlatans counting their money.

Utterly disgusting this lean to the far right but it is still a minority, albeit a slowly increasing one

If you listen to some of the people on here, they're the silent majority.

I dunno how you can talk so much shit being a silent majority, but here we are.

Indeed. The ones who protest about not being able to say anything are the ones given platforms on television and social media telling us, repeatedly, how bad things are but how they cannot say anything about those bad things.

Loads but you won’t ever agree with a single word so I’m not here to please you I’m afraid to say.

I don't think you'd be pleasing me either way to be fair, given the same people always on your likes, you do have your peanut gallery, so enjoy, at least we're all happy this afternoon.

I posted a fair few times when that fucking cretin Johnson the liar was in charge that i was concerned about the UK sliding towards fascism.

I have been thinking about those posts and i think i was wrong, it did not start under Johnson the liar, it started with Thatcher. It was her mission to destroy the post WW2 social consensus and unleash unbridled capitalism into our country. It was fuelled by what the then US president Nixon called the "silent majority" think how often you hear that phrase now.

The question is then, does this silent majority want unbridled capitalism, do they want the freedom to move capital and labour across borders to make ever increasing profits.

Obviously this "silent majority" are now against the freedom to move labour, but not the freedom to move capital. That says to me those in favour of the freedom to move capital have to convince those who are against the freedom of movement of labour that , that is the problem. That is the only way to deflect from their ever growing wealth. it is a simple case of blame them, not us for your woes.

Thatcher introduced those conditions, Blair did fuck all to change it and then Cameron exacerbated it because of his arrogance. I actually think Cameron was possibly the thickest PM of my lifetime, all he cared about was his access to power and status. His policy of austerity whilst embracing the capitalist ideals of freedom of movement of wealth and people have created a tinderbox which is being exploited by the likes of Farage and his other far right cronies who are all in hoc to the capitalists, not the working class.

As a person who you all know is on the left i am against mass immigration, Karl Marx wrote about the threat of Irish immigration into the UK, but apparently it us on the left who want mass immigration. That is the power of our right wing media. They do not look at the working class and our ideals of fair play, protestantism work ethic, they deride us as being lazy, liberal loving tofu eaters. This only fuels the far right and pushes those who are not far right towards extremist positions. They use stuff like your freedom of speech is being denied, flags cannot be flown, if that were the case how come all those people in London at the weekend could fly flags and say what they want?

Another worrying aspect of our politics is the likes of that fucking scary **** Musk trying to dictate to us in our country what we should do. Does he not realise that the Brexit debate was as much about soveriegnty that anthing else, that we are a democracy not an autocracy, these are our values. We debate not fight.

As for Starmer, he is fucking useless, a rabbit in the headlights, he has no idea how to counter this far right narrative, so its not Cameron the idiot, Johnson the liar to blame its our current PM and he needs to go now otherwise our slide into fascism will gather apace and that scares the fuck out of me.

Nothing shocks anymore and to be honest there’s endless clips of people celebrating Charlie Kirk’s death , we’re all being played online to feel outraged and anger - it’s great for media and social media with more clicks and traction. It will be like this until it’s much more regulated or scrapped altogether - we’re a long way from that.

So today on radio phone ins I have heard people advocating that

a/ we need to stop supporting Ukraine as we can't afford to

b/ why should we help earthquake victims in Turkey and especially Syria - we can't afford to

There are so many shit stains in the gusset of the UK's underpants right now
The same types marched with Mosely in the 30's. Blame the others. They were traitors then and they are traitors now. They use the very flags that our soldiers fought under and defeated the Nazi's. If they want to fly a flag, use the fucking Swastika.

Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology defined by a dictatorial leader, the forcible suppression of opposition, and the regimentation of society and the economy. While the term is most famously associated with 20th-century movements in Italy and Germany, scholars identify a core set of characteristics common to such movements.

Key characteristics of fascism
  • Ultrananationalism: Fascism places the nation above all else, prioritizing the unity and well-being of the national community over individual rights and interests.
  • Authoritarianism: The government is led by a single, all-powerful dictator or ruling party that demands unquestioning obedience. It is fundamentally opposed to liberal democracy, pluralism, and individual rights.
  • Militarism: Fascist movements celebrate military values, such as strength, discipline, and the use of violence to achieve national goals. Paramilitary groups are often used to intimidate and suppress political opponents.
  • Glorification of violence: Violence is not only accepted but often celebrated as a tool for national rejuvenation or purification. It is used to eliminate perceived internal and external enemies.
  • Cult of tradition and masculinity: Fascism promotes a return to a mythical, "purified" national past and emphasizes aggressive, virile masculinity. It often involves the suppression of women's independence and other "non-traditional" behaviors.
  • Scapegoating and demonization: Fascist regimes redirect popular anger and anxiety toward scapegoats, such as ethnic minorities, immigrants, or political opponents. This creates a unifying cause and justifies violence and persecution.
  • Mass mobilization: Fascists seek to energize public participation through rallies, parades, and other controlled channels to generate fervent support for the party and its leader.
  • Regimentation of the economy: The economy operates under strong state control, though private property may be preserved. Its primary purpose is to increase national strength and achieve self-sufficiency (autarky).

Trump and Farages playbook..

I found this interesting, a good breakdown of ethno-nationalism, civic-nationalism and Christian-nationalism.

I'm working through the conclusions myself.
