26 | Savinho - 2025/26

I am not judging him against a League 1 team but still very early into the season for him, and if anything he is still in pre-season.

Still unconvinced his style of play suits the modern direction Pep wants to go down which Doku has really embraced.

His biggest weakness which I really hope he gets out of his game, and it's one of the things Antony struggled with at United, and it's getting the ball, stopping and trying to get the game played at his pace. The PL is a transition league at the moment and that type of move doesn't work here as well as it did 5-10 years ago.
Is that the same Doku that has struggled to prove himself since he’s been at City? He’s had a handful of decent games this season, but I don’t think it’s fair to say Doku has embraced Pep’s style and Savinho hasn’t.

That’s no criticism of Doku, both are young and we should be wanting them to improve.

Doku - though I very much did not rate him previously - has been outstanding of late.

Savinho has not at all impressed.

Lately Savinho has both been incapable of beating his defender one-on-one... and when in the box, for whatever reason, isn't able to perform with consistency - either with a shot on goal or an on target assist.

Overall performance may be open to question but a lucky goal?
That was a good strike and similar to one he scored from in the CWC ( Juventus?)
Lucky because he was luckily fed the ball point blank and lucky because he correctly smashed it as hard as he could with no particular direction in mind. From there... 50-50 or better that a smash would go in... lucky that it did.

Happy to trust Pep but from the outside I just don't see it at all. Plenty of tricks and whatever but ultimately just not threatening in the final third. Compare with likes of Mahrez, Sane and it's a major drop off in end product. Struggles to pick out a cross, often easily brushed off the ball or runs out of play under any kind of pressure.

But hey, if Pep sees something there then hopefully he proves me completely wrong.

Its not bizarre if we really want to keep him.
Pep must see something in him although not sure what it is.
He hasn’t done anything to justify a new deal especially when he’s still got 4 years left on his current one

Doku has been good for about three games.

Savinho has played about 150 minutes of football this season, if you’re judging him off that then you’ve clearly got no patience with young players with plenty of potential.

I wonder what this means for Doku especially after the start to the season he has had.

If we give Savinho a new deal as a LW (We aren't giving him a deal based on his production on the right) and we also have Omar who would be next to impossible to move. the odd man out is Doku.
