Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Mixed feelings about last night as it was the loudest we've been for a long while and it was great to see so many old faces.

I just feel that songs about Yaya Toure and Pablo Zabaleta are more suitable for the coach or the concourse and don't do anything for the tempo or support the current players as they try to lift their performance.

Also there's a time and a place for the Amorim song and last night wasn't one of them..

It was the perfect opportunity to get the rousing and original CITY I'M IN LOVE reverberating around the away end as it's so aggressively upbeat and celebrates who we are and where we're heading

Failing that, just something that doesn't end " Ole Ole" or "He's one of our own"
It’s a must. GREAT CHANT

I agree. We need to just keep trying.

We can seemingly instantly sing about Donnarumma or Amiron, but not Phil after he’s just scored and everything he’s done for us.

Sometimes some of chants seem to take years to get going. The follow you everywhere one being a great example, that was mainly only sung in pubs and bars beforehand
+ Made of Stone only really took off at Selhurst Park 2023/24 after being around for quite a while

What happens with low key songs that don’t quite take off is other clubs come along and make them their own.

KDB Pogues song became Liverpool VVD song
City original Jesus Rhythm is a Dancer song became United’s Elanga song
Can’t start a Fire being sang by Spurs for Kudus
The Treble Treble song will soon be sang by Palace (below) and eventually someone will sing a version of City I’m in Love as it was posted all over social media.
As already said we need to stick at the original songs until they take off as they will always be better than ones originally sang by other clubs

‘Treble Treble’ was a potentially great chant.

There are others…

The De Bruyne ‘Seven Nation Army’ chant was originally a low level chant for Balotelli ‘Ma-ri-o Ball-o-tell-i’, and it didn’t take off and the Rags pinched it for Van Persie and then claimed we’d pinched it for De Bruyne.

Liverpool’s Luis Suarez chant to ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ was originally a low level City chant for David Silva, and it didn’t take off.

United fans claim every song in history is theirs, if Pete Boyle sang it once in an empty pub. It’s their new go to pathetic insult - “You steal our songs”

Yet they sing our songs without even realising, as the scousers did with their Sadio Mane song and they literally believe it’s their original.

Sad needy bastard who wants to know what opposition fans think of our support? Me too.

I was impressed with the love Kalvin Phillips got last night.
Great songs from our fantastic travelling away fans. CTID

Throughout the game today, the words ‘Ruben Amorim’ ‘Stretford End’ and ‘Reds’ were chanted more than the words ‘Manchester City’ ‘Manchester’ ‘City’ ‘Man City’ ‘Blues’ or any City player names.

Did it not occur to people after the second time nobody joined in with it, that most of us don’t want to chant a bobbins dreary chant about Ruben fucking Amorim over+over? Never mind the sixth/seventh time?

Giving it one airing towards the end of the game today would be quite funny, but this is not a staple Manchester City chant that needs singing every ten minutes.
