Arsenal thread | 2025/26

That was a nasty and bad challenge on Livramento by Saliba, nowhere near the ball. He looked in quite discomfort and was streched off. Hope he hasn't done his ACL.
Newcastle Reddits reporting the expectation is he's done his ACL and will be out for the season. Poor lad, that would be his 2nd ACL and whilst I'm no medical expert I'd imagine that won't be an easy recovery.

Saliba should be fucking ashamed of himself he has intentionally set out to injure a fellow pro and the fact that the press are silent about it is disgraceful.

I genuinely don't get all the hate for the set piece goals. Looks to me like a very good percentage shot and one they're getting right. The thing that baffles me is why no one else has replicated it
because nobody else would get away with fouling the keepers in the way they do, its just that simple and the reason people are against them is because quite simply they are joyless, they are a percentage play and that is all, football is at its core entertainment and people want to be entertained by free flowing football, great goals, thundering tackles etc people dont pay good money to see teams try and win corners and load the box.

Plenty of Arsenal fans are unhappy with Arteta and his tactics and the number is growing although if they win something he will be the best manager ever

I think the hate is more aimed at the manager thanthe team because we all know deep down that they could win the league and could have won a lot more by now ............ the reason they dont and they won is down to his cowardly ways .........they had two chances to put a marker on City and Liverpool but he bricked and it will happen again.
The man never learns does he ??????

Arsenal look a very good team. Might not agree with how they play but it’s effective. Might not win the league again but coming back to win at Newcastle is championship mentality.

Squad is in top shape.

Still letter writing, moaning wankers -:)

They are a strong team that works on set pieces that win them tight games
Also, they now have a striker to work with and open the defences. Will it be enough to win the title? That is the question.

If City are still in and around at the run-in stages, then Liverpool and Arsenal will be tested this time and it may go down to the wire

If City is 5-6 points behind these two going in the final run-in, both of them will s**t their pants. Everyone knows it. Liverpool have never beaten City in a straight fight for title and we all know about Arteta's Arsenal mental strength.

The challenge for us to keep them in sight, the rest they will do themselves!

playing percentage football is the absolute antithesis of being the best manager ever, spending nigh on a billion pounds to aim for corners and freekicks is pathetic
To be fair if it wasn't for Pope Arsenal would have had 3 or 4 open play goals. Plenty of chances and good football that ended up with him making a great save.

I seriously doubt he intended to injured anyone. It was the kind of foul Harry Kane has gotten away with his whole career.

Looking at fouls in that game, Newcastle got away with some horrible actions. 1st foul on Saka after 10 seconds should have been a yellow and towards the end Lascelles was basically trying to peel Gyokeres' face off. You have to be physical against the Barcodes else they'll bully you out of the match.

I genuinely hope Livramento recovers well but to say that was a genuine attempt to injure anyone is IMHO not right.

STOP just STOP, stop trying to justify that bullshit with whataboutery as it quite simply just will not fly, saliba was nowhere near the ball and he intentionally took him out of being able to land properly and therefore putting him at risk of injury, so he intentionally injured him, there is no other justification for it.

Just because other people have got away with it makes it no less disgusting and doesnt justify it by any means, saliba knew exactly what he was doing and there was absolutely no need to do it.

over 50% of your goals this season have been scored from set pieces so wind it in, see this is where the mask slips with you, you come off as quite amusing and even self depreciating until the facts are there and then you quickly revert back to being the typical arsenal/aftv fan justifying arsenals bullshit.

The same way they were silent when one of their players who doesn't believe in consent did the same to Rodders.

I do believe if City are right in the mix, then the others will fear the run-in with 6 to 7 games to play
the 2 Big games are Chelsea away and Arsenal at home, then 5 winnable games and at home on the last day

City have to keep everybody fit and control game time for the big players and the big push to the winning line

I'd fear City being 3 points behind us in April more than the Dippers being 3 points ahead of us in April.

Not sure where this entitlement comes from. You aren’t running anyone down in a title race as you have proven time and time again you don’t have the nerve.

Your only hope is doing what Liverpool did last season and building an insurmountable lead. If ourselves or Liverpool are in range come April then one of us will be winning it.

I agree it was a Kane kind of challenge, totally cowardly.
Kane got away with it for about 6 or 7 times a few seasons back because the media wouldn't call him out on it and refs were too scared to pull him up because of him being England's captain.
But it really is a shithouse challenge because you've got to somehow break your fall after being knocked off balance whilst in the air, which could easily result in broken arms or collarbones.
A totally different 'challenge' but still of the same levels of shithousery used to be Robertson for the dippers shoving a player in the back whilst they were at full speed, off the pitch and into the advertising boards.
It shouldn't matter if you wear a red shirt or not it should be punished correctly and not allowed in the game
