AS Monaco (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Teams who are aggressive, can run for 95 mins, chase press, every one of our players when we just passing it around and if we don’t take our chances in Europe against teams with a winning mentality will get chances! Our own fault we didn’t take our chances!

We played well. Could’ve scored more but we played well. That wasn’t a penalty if VAR is to be used as it’s supposed to be used. Some you get, some you don’t.

If Monaco had fouled one of our players with a foot 5 foot something in the air, or even attempted to do it, we would be screaming for a pen.

Poor decision from Gonzales in the moment.

He didn't cost us the draw though. Too tippy tappy and not ruthless enough in the second half.

Oh well I guess a point away is ok but once again we are so on top and revert to playing rondos without any desire to go forward and put the game to bed. Sure we hit the bar twice but we were in such a great position to get the 3rd and spent time passing it 2 yards to each other as in training drills - It's a big flaw with us, we were so much the better side but when you have half the side more happy to not go forward it means you are always in danger of giving it away.

On another note I do worry about how the game as a whole is going. The ref is giving fouls when there is the merest of touches, players are conning them by faking being hit hard in the face. It's stop start and barely entertainment.

In soccer, a raised foot near the head is a foul called "playing in a dangerous manner" or, more colloquially, a "high boot". A referee can call this foul even if no contact is made, as the action itself is a threat to a player's safety.

For those confused by the rules
Dier put his head towards Nico’s foot. What’s he supposed to do !

Crap that. Got away with it a bit first half resulting in a decent first 45 but a woeful second half and paid the price. Some positive football but we were Incredibly sloppy both ways, very similar to last season. Should never have been in a position where a dubious decision could have had an impact on the scoreline.

I'd have taken a draw had we done what most other sides did and rotated players but we didn't, we put a full strength side out, including Rodri against a injury hit Monaco so a point is a shit result.

I wish the most ethically benign but irritating medical condition of the ref. Penalty decision aside (whatever high boot I get it), he had a mare. Fell for every acting job by Monaco.

Saw some good things. I'm not too bothered tbh.

We were the better team and bit unlucky not to hit a third that would’ve killed the game off. But because we didn’t, it was always dangerous in the end. And this penalty would never be a discussion point.

Horrible shit hole ground.. horrible police and an even worse ref.

Bernardo is finished
The slowest man on the field plays winger for us and is supported by Stones; the right side was dead. Pep did not go for the win against a very weak and depleted Monaco side.
