In the 1894 members mailer this week the group appealed to fans to 1 drop the Munich bit after if you hate Man Utd clap your hands and 2 drop the unnecessary reference to Munich after “jaap stam” during the Zabaleta song.

There’s been a suggestion of change this line to “who’s that” after Jaap Stam is mentioned.

We’re not saying it’s widespread or that anyone from any particular group is responsible but it is there it is unnecessary in the year 2025 and this is something surely fans can self police at home and away games.

I have always sang he’s harder than me mam

Don’t like to reference the Rags in any way if possible

"Harder than a Tank" would have been a better line. There again, watching ruSSian tanks having their lids blown off so easily, maybe not.

They have no business telling people what they can and cant sing.
So you approve of the Munich chants continuing then ?

They also have done it to their own members so they are not telling the wider City fan base what they can and can’t do. If any of their members have a problem with what they’ve said they can unsubscribe or leave if they wish. That’s up to them

I don't have a problem with dropping the Munich chants for obvious reasons, but dropping the Jaap Stam part, why?

No need to drop the jaap stam bit but totally agree that there is no place in this day and age to mention anything to do with the Munich air disaster.
I’m not a prude or sensitive soul but I do find it uncomfortable that it’s sung still.

I hope we can eradicate it.

I've always sung he's harder than mi Mam for the Zaba one!! ;-)

So you have no problem with the fans and the club being in trouble with the authorities for tragedy chanting then?

Munich was a terrible time for the whole of Manchester and at the time of Munich there was not the bitterness there is today.
I was an office junior (they don't have those nowadays unfortunately) at the time and was sent out every hour to check the newspaper shop on the corner who posted a bulletin in an upstairs window for us. I confess that I cried when Duncan Edwards died as he was a hero of mine at the time. (City one week Stretford the next)
So Munich chanting has long, long, long been a very big hate of mine and I do not hate easily.

Plus as Zabba is my Mr Manchester I would not like his name being associated with Munich chants thank you.

I'm not really fussed one way or another. I come from a generation where fans habitually chanted such things at each other and neither side made a deal out of becoming offended by any of it, simply gave some it return and actually generated an atmosphere inside the grounds. Same as I had no issues with the rags chanting about Fodens mum yet many blues were appaleptic with rage over it.
