Match discussion - Arsenal (H) - Saturday 4 Oct k.o. 12:00

And as an aside - Tony Duggan's Scouse accent sounds horrific on TV. Whoever screen tested her and thought it was a good idea to put her on is on a wind up. You can barely understand a word!

It's no better live. I remember she was interviewed on stage when Pep was introduced in 2016. I wanted to fling myself on the ground and cover my ears.

Or maybe the Lineswoman, who's stood on that side. Since they became "assistant referees" they seem to less, in both the men's and women's game. Watching games from the 70s and 80s, and the linesmen are involved in the game.
Maybe mate. I’ll take your word for it. I did watch footy back then but I honestly don’t recall how involved the lino’s were.

I know at top level men’s it looks like they don’t do much but apparently they will verbally call a lot of decisions to the ref. He’ll then indicate his decision, and the assistant’s flag will then follow. To the supporter it looks like they are just following the ref though. It’s done that way to avoid the impression of the officials appearing to disagree. He’ll give the decision verbally to the ref who can then either take and agree with it,
or choose not to. Basically that’s the assistant doing their job of providing the referee with assistance, to my mind.
Was what my refereeing mate told me anyway.

Of course, below that level where they aren’t microphoned up, that’s another question!

First big mistake from Rose but a great save against a player that always seems to put those away. I would bring Lohman on now as they are starting to dominate the midfield. Come on see this one out...

Surprised she’s lasted this long on the pitch after that McCabe assault at the end of the first half.
