Will we win the league this season?

No and on the way we are playing we dont deserve to.....

Arsenals to lose imho

Hopefully some underdog comes forward and does a leicester as that would be incredibly funny with the ensuing meltdown from the Arsenal fans

I'll be honest I thought the same, but I watched Barca when i watched a lot of La Liga, when they were average/ inconsistent and won league titles because of one player and I'm not saying Haaland is at that level as the little magician Messi but the way he is scoring and getting us points when if he's not there we wouldn't be getting those 3 points is Messi esque at Barca under Bartomeu. Or like a inform Suarez both got Barca points when they shouldn't really have gotten them.

Barca were average consistently average, but he dragged them to a league title, sometimes when you have an anomaly of a player like Haaland you can win major honours with players not at that level in the team. They drag you to major honours. Because they are that good. You don't have to play consistently well as long as you have them.

This Haaland is the best he's ever been the most complete he's ever been. We've got two anomalies in this team a striker that is probably going to go down as the best striker in Premier league history and Donnarumma who is the best goalkeeper in the world at stopping the ball going into his net.

those two players who are levels above anyone else in their postion can drag you to titles/trophies.

Imo , No
But things can and do quickly change
As I remember James H on Picadilly Radio saying
" Ti's a marathon, not a Sprint"

Let's just take it a game at a time and see where it takes us. It'll be great to win the next few games before Arsenal and Dippers play again, well could be top before they next kick a ball if I'm right in my thinking

I think the mid-table is as strong as it has ever been. Probably the strongest it has been to be fair.

However, the top end is nowhere near the level it was a few years ago when us and Liverpool were fighting it out.

The top end of the table is probably the weakest it has been for 10 years when Leicester won it, or when Chelsea won it under Conte or Mourinho.

Same could be said around Europe though.

Barca, Real Madrid, Atletico, Italian teams, German teams are all weaker than they were 10 years ago.
I don't think you can characterise the top of the Premier League, or European competition as weak, given the evident strength of Arsenal and PSG.

Winning the League is a difficult proposition for City this season because Arsenal appear formidable, but we are improving as a side. You can see that in the form of players like Haaland, Foden, Doku, Khusanov, Bobb and Donnarumma. We still have to see Cherki play regularly, and Marmoush is set to return. Rodri may steadily recover.

We have overcome a poor opening to the season, and Pep's comments about the potential he sees in the side are understandable. We all know that we are not the finished article yet but we are improving. Some commentators, such as Danny Murphy, have said that they had not regarded City as title contenders but that they are changing their mind. We should be optimistic at this moment.

I’d certainly have Arsenal down as favourites at this point. They have already played some really difficult away games (Newcastle, United and Liverpool all done) and find themselves top.

They also are probably the most motivated/desperate of the 3 challengers which can be both a positive and a negative.

They probably have the best squad as well. Be interesting to see if arteta can get them over the line

The results have improved, but the performances have been remarkably similar, especially away from home, where regardless of result, we seem to lose all manner of control and start making sloppy mistakes

We can't keep saying "early days" or "wait until everyone's match fit" because sooner or later we need to kick-on and start dominating from start to finish.

It’s a poor league, so if we can stay in there or there abouts and somebody on the recruitment department does their job well in Jan, we may have a chance
It’s the strongest, as a whole, the league has ever been.

If you mean there isn’t one standout team I agree.

It is 'early days' for the new signings and recovering players. We should expect Reijnders, Bobb, Khusanov, Cherki, Rodri etc to improve.

A poor league?

I think the league is good. We have teams like Palace and Bournemouth stating intent and a resurgent Everton under Moyes. Spurs are playing a lot lot better under Frank as well.

The top 3 teams (City, Liverpool and Arsenal) in the division have fell away a bit in terms of quality.

I think this year could be a 3 or 4 way tussle with a rank outsider throwing their hat in the ring for the chance at winning the league.

We could have been 3 or 4 up at half time yesterday

It's the finishing that is the issue, not the performances

In times gone by, we'd have been 2 or 3 up yesterday, and then passed them to death in the 2nd half

Unfortunately, if you aren't finishing teams off, especially away from home, you're always likely to get sucker punched

I agree that we are making silly mistakes, even basics like misplaced simple passes; but at the same time Brentford had one shot on target yesterday, which came from Bobb getting brushed off the ball in their box, and then Gvardiol getting a header horribly wrong

It’s Liverpool’s to lose a couple of weeks ago apparently

It’s Arsenal’s to lose now apparently

A lot of recency bias in footy

Until around 12 games have been played there is more noise than signal

Saying it’s any team’s to lose suggests a big points gap between first and second that isn’t there yet.

If we keep improving who knows. I think Liverpool will improve but inconsistences will remain to a certain degree. I see Arsenal maintaining this style of play throughout the season but there will be a few blips. The other comps have to be added in to the equation as well. Out of the three teams I think we've got more headroom to get better. The defence is looking stubborn and the attack not too bad. Got to keep plugging away.

Yes,.but this isn't the injuries thread and you don't get bonus points for winning with a fully fit midfield later in the season.

The next three league games are all fixtures that we didn't win last season and then we'll be a quarter of a way through the season

Our performance levels need to improve and we need Foden/Doku/Reijnders to contribute with goals.

Otherwise we'll drop more.points and our chances of winning the PL will diminish

You’re not Jeremy wade are you? You’re the biggest fisher on here. You do catch a lot of bites tho so Fair play

I’m not sure that’s true, I just think he’s a miserable ****.
Whereas I on the other hand…. ;-)

When we we this title it will be, for me, one of the most satisfying ones yet. Nobody has us down to win it. It’s Liverpool or Arsenal. Meanwhile we are going relatively undetected, doing our thing silently.

We will have the gold badges on next season.

Not totally convinced mate, but I think we’re definitely in with a shout.

The one factor that cannot be discounted is Arsenal’s mental resolve, or lack thereof. They are bound to get it right eventually I guess, but recent history suggests there’s a good chance they will implode when the pressure gets turned up. Which is one of the most beautiful sights in football.
