25 | Gianluigi Donnarumma - 2025/26

Makes great decisions. Comes for the ball and cleans up a lot of crosses. Not surprising seeing he's the best keeper in the world
Yep. He produces world class moments, but also does everything else to an amazing level. If he's making a fairly routine save, you know he's pushing the ball miles away from the goal rather than back into danger. If he's coming to punch, you know the ball is going miles away. He's calmly catching balls that other keepers would only parry. The only weak point is his kicking, and even that is only a weakness compared to Ederson. He's still as good as any other keeper in the league at it.

Igor Thiago is on form we saw the finishes against the rags. Difference is the big Don has won the psychological battle before a balls been kicked. His reputation etc is already in strikers heads. It's not I'm through on goal here I can score its. I'm through on goal but I've got to beat Donnarumma.

The 1 on 1 was absolutely huge, I know Thiago got it stuck under his feet but his positioning to save the shot the moment he got it out of his feet was immense.

We're just miles better at the back since he signed.

I think last season we'd have feared that 1 on 1 but I think most thought he'd bail us out today which he did.
First time since Hart left that I still feel confident when a striker runs through.

Couldn't care less about his distribution, the players seem to trust him back there and we seem to be solid at the back during set pieces.
But you should care about his distribution though.

If we were accepting it’s shit and just pushed up field and let him try and hit Haaland from his goal kicks then fair enough. But we’re not, we’re still trying to pass out from the back with him and it’s going to cost us goals.

Hes obviously not Ederson with his feet but the drop in distribution is not causing us any real issues at the moment.

Needed to be quicker on the pass out that got deflected, but that's something that's fixed by someone screaming "man on". He did something similar for PSG years ago.

But in total, I'm very happy with how he's done so far. Multiple clean sheets, phenomenal shot stopper and a huge presence for the defence. I was a big fan of him before he joined City so I'm thrilled with it so far.

Given the apparent shift in the game towards playing for set-pieces, long throws and piling the ball into a crowded box at every available opportunity, Donnarumma is the ideal keeper.

Exactly.

English football is dumbing itself down and becoming simpler. Stick a big 6'5 tree of a man in goal and deal with it the old fashioned way.
