North Stand Construction Discussion

With recent events, should the new end be named after a blue legend. .. Ricky Hatton.
Why would it? He was a City fan, nothing more than that as far as man and club go. I didn’t know him but going off what I’ve heard and read, he would scoff at that idea completely.

Hatton was a boxer. What he should have, and I’ve seen it said already, is either a statue or some other commemorative piece at the arena.

What will change between when the designs were announced and it finishing soon, or even between now and then?

It is a perfectly valid opinion btw.

If we’re basing it on designs then ok, but to say it’s ugly based on photos of a half finished project is a bit premature.

Once it’s finished, softened into overall stadium structure and lansdscaped then we’ll be in a better position to judge.

*I’m not saying opinion isn’t valid

I don't think his point was on the state of the site.

Look it is not my point or argument to make. But it is a valid opinion and people are being a bit harshly dismissive. Imo.
I was being a bit tongue in cheek given the other poster’s pics seemed a tad gloomy. Yes that’s his opinion so it’s a valid point.

It will look just fine when complete. At the moment it’s still a building site.
Let’s wait till all the landscaping is done etc.
It’s been built mainly for its function.
Hotel, food & drink outlets, entertainment area, museum, club shop all in one place.

Let’s face it. Stadiums would look fantastic without roofs. But unfortunately they are needed. Especially in Manchester.

Cheering on the lads in a 60k plus Etihad will make all this worthwhile. The finances will probably take care of themselves with substantial trade from the hotel and bars, from COOP Live and the return of stadium gigs etc.

Credit to the droners (probably not the right term), photographers and building experts who’ve kept us informed on the developments (in between home games).

I knkw some posters are very interested in the aesthetics but this is Beswick/Bradford, not Bermuda. I’m sure the hotel will be top drawer for visitors attending gigs and seeing the mighty City. There will be many more seats for local fans.
Will there be though? Has anything actually been mentioned in terms of tickets prices or availability of tickets?

A giant hotel, more corporate seats and packages don’t exactly point to that

There has been mention from the club re. availability and level of cost of tickets although you'd have to search for it. There aren't more corporate seats though and the only "packages" will be for the few overhanging seats outside the skybar, presumably related to the hotel (which is only 400 rooms).

Direct revenue from Coop Live with be for CFG however there will be a knock-on affect to the hotel and F&B facilities for MCFC

I just think it ruins the stadium look, it’s big it’s ugly

You won’t see those views unless you are in the air Personally I like the look it impressive when you are on the ground and once complete, as already mention, I believe it will be incredible both functionally and from a iconic perspective
Hopefully the area will be maintained better than it generally is now and the rest of the perimeter of the stadium is landscaped to match

Another video from today, very busy Site, cranes and scissor lifts. also a chat with the law.

Thanks for the dedication to the cause I know you put a lot of time and effort so credit to you and Colin
One question where the the glass panel go I’m in suspenders here :-D

The skybar seats will be sold as hospitaility in the same way all of the other hospitality in the stadium is sold, you wouldnt need to be staying in the hotel to purchase albeit obviously you could book both.

Not sure thats relevant though Marv to people who will never run out of money?
I agree. Elsewhere on this message board, the owner and management are often cast as being interested only in profit. I think their main interest is in improving the football club. As you say, you can do that if you are wealthy enough.
