The Labour Government

Suppose it's great for the stats at the end of the year.

I sometimes wonder if all these arrests related to the public order act are something police actually like enforcing. Looks like it gives them a right headache yet consecutive governments keep adding to it.
The number of arrests will be way up, especially relative to terrorism offences, as so many terrorists just sit there with their deadly terrorism placards rather than running away.

A level English to get in?? How many people in UK could even gain a E or higher in English? Perhaps we should have the same restrictions on voting?
Not sure we can kick out dim residents though, I think the general idea is to bring in clever folk like. There are exempt groups though of course like nurses, doctors, care workers, Tibetan chefs.

You can't expect a Tibetan chef to have an A level.english. As long as they can cook a tsampa, dough balls are tough.

That's private companies for you, ripping the arse out of Britain and raising inflation.
You're right. Tesco, one of the biggest companies moaning about the rise in NI, have taken the opportunity to raise prices to cover the NI increase, but at the same time increasing their profit margin. So much for not wanting to pass on the costs imposed on them by government.

Waitrose seem to be experts at having a deal on products for a week or so and then when they come off sale they are at a higher price than pre-sale.

The supermarkets have also doubled profit margins on petrol and diesel since 2022. Non-supermarket retailers have done similar but not by quite as much.

So when of the RW criticisers on here moan about the government this, the government that( Yes you Big Joe) maybe try having a look at the real cause of much of the inflation.

A level English Language presumably, not A level English Literature.

Most Brits would fail A Level English. Next MP who says "between you and I" should be barred from voting for this bill.

Talking about dim residents. I overheard a conversation where a bloke was moaning his recent pay rise had taken him into the 40% bracket. He was saying how much worse off he would be. He genuinely thought that he would now be paying 40% on the whole of his income rather than just the bit over £50250. Thick/stupid/naive or what?

All of the above but I hear it all the time, no point going over the tax threshold as I will have to pay 40% tax.

* this does not include people who may take benefits in another way to prevent such from happening before @PeterPedant jumps in :-)

We've just received our water bill for the last 6 months. Almost exactly the same usage as the same period last year. The bill is just short of 30% higher than last year. Bloody Labour. ;-)

I think a lot of people simply do not grasp the system.

I used to have an elderly relative who fretted about paying tax on her savings. (She was absolutely loaded.) No matter how often I explained that, at worst, the tax would be on the interest, not the capital, she could not take it in. I might as well have been speaking in Mandarin for all the good it did.

Considering most of the media aren't Labour party friendly why aren't they chasing up electoral fraud by McSweeney?

I think this Chinese spy case might bite the PM up the arse. Cleverly just made Starmer look like a tit correcting his statement to the house.
Very much doubt it. He handed Badenough her arse in PMQs. She really needs to learn to understand what fight to pick, but again she was like a dog with a bone and kept digging

Just heard a bit of it on the radio. Turned into a car crash as she couldn’t change tac to a plan B of attack.

Quite comical if you believed Starmer handled that well today. He and Badenoch were as bad as each other.

The sight of a British PM deliberately taking out of context snippets relating to China from ministerial speeches, when the actual government position on China was laid out in official security reviews, really was quite pathetic. Embarrassing, in fact.

Starmer crushed her and you know it
