Supposedly its all been agreed and they'll be new inbetweeners in some form made next year. What are people's thoughts on its impending return? Good idea? Bad idea?

For me, the inbetweeners is an all time classic, don't think there has been anything as good since it came out, i like the idea of more and will of course watch it but I don't think its a good idea. The humour was of its time, a lot of it you wouldnt get away with now and more importantly, it was of its age. A lot of it only worked because they were 16-18 yr olds. They'll be nearly 40 now. Will be very hard to get it right.

Given that it is seemingly happening though, what would you have the boys doing?

For me, Will would be working as a supply teacher in his old school under headmaster Gilbert who gave him a job as a favour to wills mum who he's now married to. he's being bullied by both the kids and the teachers. He's also hopelessly running for MP as an independent hoping that will spearhead his aspiring political career.

Simon is married to Carly who eventually settled for him, both were reluctant to marry but she fell pregnant and they both felt obligated. he's a stay at home dad to about 5/6 kids, he's miserable but can't get out so pretends his 17 yr old dream life come true, is great.

Jay is ridiculously successful, done loads of amazing and crazy things but he's bound by confidentially clauses so he can't tell anybody. He occasionally let's slip about things hes done but absolutely nobody believes a word he says, and whilst he could prove it, he isn't allowed to

Neil has had several dopey/clumsy moments go viral over the years which has resulted in him inadvertently becoming an online influencer and minor celebrity, he doesnt understand any of it

Worth a go for sure. Might be showing my age but I feel like good comedy series have dried up a bit recently.

I've enjoyed what I've seen of Derry Girls (which in its self is a bit of a ladies version of Inbetweeners) but what else is there?

It shouldn’t work, given the time that has passed but…… I really want it to and I will 100% be watching.

Also, worth remembering the writers are also onboard and they are great writers so if anyone can make it work, they can.

I’d maybe go for a film, stag week somewhere, probably vegas. It’s dialling it in a bit and a bit obvious but I'm not sure they could make six episodes for tv work. Although I’d love them to try.

Either way, I’m well up for it. The series were successful because, whilst (only slightly) exaggerated, they were incredibly close to the way young lads act, think, and speak. I see my teenage self in all of them.

Great news.

Series 1-3 were excellent.

The two films were mainly forgettable apart from that dance scene (gif above), the Burnley fans on the bus and that cockney lad who tried to tag along (the sort of person always seemed to randomly be around the streets on lads holidays back then)

Never know, a new series might work out alright?

It’s a weird one.

How many 40 year olds still socialise with the same 3 people they did at 15?
Most of my mates at 15 were complete balloons.

The jokes were mainly funny because of their age. Would it be funny watching 40 year olds acting with a 15 year olds humour?

You can get away with 20 odd year olds acting like kids but they are too old now.

thing is tho you could down a different route and have them meet at a school reunion a number of years later and do a limited series about the immediate reunion and the aftermath of it

Bad idea. It had its day and I really cant see it working with middle age men. they will probably end up doing Inbetweeners "their" kids edition.

Think we would all be severely disappointed with Will"s Mum ?
Can imagine the Greg Davies character would have taught her a lesson ?

Ahhh the old school reunion storyline. The only storyline these things can go down. Ha.

I loved the Inbetweeners and will still watch it as it will be good to see the cast back together but it’s not gonna be any good in my view. Plus it’s core audience is also 20 years older….
