Villa v Maccabi Tel Aviv - away fans banned | MTA confirm they will refuse any allocation for safety reasons (p26)

Thankfully the population of Birmingham are significantly less racist than the general population of Israel. Unfortunate that you can’t claim that distinction.
But a significant proportion of the said community are incredibly racist towards ordinary Jewish people & hide behind anti israel sentiment, just as on the other side of the argument, many believe israel have the right to do quite literally whatever they want in the middle east and claim anti semitism whenever questioned.

There is virtually no jewish community with any presence inside of Birmingham anymore, certainly not within the inner cities and I know from first hand experience (from incredibly few jewish people that I know) how nervous they are of telling people their religion.

More than one thing can be true at the same time.
Netanyahu and his ring wing government are guilty of war crimes.
Little tommy robinson and his clan stick their nose into everything whipping up hatred whilst bullying ordinary decent Muslims (and generally people of colour) wherever they feel brave enough to do so.
Elements of the Islamic community are outright racist themselves (specifically to jewish people) to the point where they are hounded out of entire areas.

I dont know why the last point is so awkward for people to admit or acknowledge, I can only come to the conclusion there is a lack of life experience of living within the said community and hearing the slurs and intimidation tactics first hand.

Conflicted with this. Why shouldn’t fans be able to travel abroad and support their team. But then, if they’re out to cause problems, why should we accommodate them?

I read somewhere that Maccabi fans have a political edge, hopefully they don’t bring it out and stick to the game of football.

Ed Miliband trying to make this ban an anti-Jewish thing.

It’s not; if anything, it’s an anti-Israel thing.

They’re not the same.
Israel and Israeli teams should be booted out of international sports competitions in exactly the same way and for pretty much the same reasons as Russia have been. Obviously no need to even go there as far as European competitions are involved. They should not be in those for the same reason that Ethiopia and Argentina are not in European competitions. It's quite simple really, and we don't need to tie ourselves up in mental gymnastics on behalf of the worst elements of the Israeli state.

Is there any other example of the British government intervening to overrule the police to allow a group of football fans to enter the country?

Let alone a group with a well documented violent record?

I can’t work out what the basis is for the PM to get involved in a policing decision - is he accusing West Mids police of making the decision based on their religion?
Can’t think of any other example-police are supposed to be independent.

Would set a very worrying precedent if the govt overrules west mids police.

Yes we kinda do know that enough of them are actual scumbags. They have a very vocal group who have previous in recent months for causing trouble which kinda points to it.
Any other argument is wholly disingenuous.

Fuck knows where you are going with your horrible-hooligan-light but nostalgia- heavy argument afterwards. Those lovable racists from Macabbi, is it?
Scumbags are scumbags, mate.
They come in every colour, from every religion and through every nationality.

It's impossible to argue with any of this. Israel has behaved in a disgraceful and abominable fashion and should be censured accordingly. If right was right, this wouldn't be an argument.

Most members of UEFA aren't backward racists. We agree. That's true.
Also, only one member of UEFA has been an an apartheid state since well before October 7th and reoeatedly committed war crime after war crime afterwards upon defenceless people too.

Heaton Park clearly hasn't been forgotten. That's not fair at all. Conflating that tragedy with this decision has no logical root other than in your own imagination.
The experienced authorities in Birmingham have decided MTV fans won't help their city's situation. I wasn't there when the decision was made. You weren't there either Anything on either of our parts is conjecture and supposition
My own supposition is that it is likely the Birmingham authority think a proven group of vocal racists wouldn't necessarily be a great cultural addition to the city of Birmingham - but hey, you could be right. It might also possibly because they are cowards.

The corollary of your second paragraph above is that we can't accuse non Israelis of racism and ignore the deeply racist elements in Israeli society.
Neither your statement nor its corollary make sense whatsoever.

PB, you're an intelligent man. One whose input on here I have often greatly appreciated. But, with respect, you're arguments are either extremely weak or simply not making any sense. It's not my place to tell you what to do. That said, I will be bold enough to suggest that on this particular ruling, I think you are choosing to die on a hill that might be way beneath you.
If it was so well known how bad their fans are why were they not banned in August when the Europa League draw was made?

They have been banned because of the Heaton Park Synagogue attack! The same terrorist attack that made Manchester remember that hate will never win!

Imagine City were playing Macabi Tel Avi in the Champions League this week? Our Muslim owners would make a point to embrace our Prestwich supporters club and probably make Berkovic guest of honour!

Aston Villa players took the knee today for racial equality, in the same week that they wont let you into their ground if you are a certain race, because they wont stand up to hate! Why haven't they banned Spurs fans?

Football should never have anything to do with Politics! City proved that when our fans made Bert Trautmann an honorary Manc despite having a big Jewish following!

If football has nothing to do with politics why is a nation not in Europe competing in a European competition

Its wierd seeing people make up so many excuses why they shouldn't be allowed to come here. Literally any excuse they can think of to try and hide their hatred of Jews. Disgusting
Indeed.

The West Midlands Safety Advisory Group have concluded that MTA fans shouldn’t be allowed to be at the game, following their risk assessment based on data from WMP.

All the other noise around it has been created by social media narratives blaming the other side to the one they’re on, using over-emotive language to ramp up the rhetoric.
