9 | Erling Haaland - 2025/26

Wouldn’t be surprised if Haaland’s scoring run takes a break at Villa Park. We’ve not won there in nearly five years, and honestly, our last proper performance against them was back in autumn 2022 — when Kev set up Erling for that goal. Since then, Villa have had the edge over us in those fixtures. That said, every game’s a fresh chance, and if we turn up, we’ve got more than enough to get something from it.

Seriously in the running to eventually become my favourite City player ever, which is something I thought I’d never say about anyone ever again five years ago.

While I’ll concede his overall game has improved significantly this season I still have to insist it was never anywhere near as weak as most people said.

There's probably a lot more truth in that than most of us would like to admit.

Erling Haaland is head, shoulders, knees, and toes above the rest of the squad. We'd be fucked without him this season.

There isn't much truth in it at all. The team is anything but dead. That's a very stupid opinion. We did well when Haaland was out injured last season. We won 2.67 points per game after his injury in March. That's title-winning form. Admittedly, we had easier fixtures (but we beat Palace and Villa in that period).

The same fella was slating him to high heaven last year. Stick him on ignore, he really isn't worth it.

to the people who say we rely too much on his goals id say did he cross it to himself for the first goal and did he pass it to himself for the second, the waiter in the restaurant doesnt cook the food lets give the chefs some credit to.

We rely on him in the sense of no other player has scored more than one goal. That isn't sustainable and others need to contribute to goals and often.

He has been class this season and not even the goals side of things. I was a big critic of his hold up player an overall play but that has improved massively. Long may it continue.

Last season is last season though, I would be on your side last season but this year he does genuinely look like our only player capable of getting goals on a regular basis and while there are many assists that deserve credit (like Nico's on Saturday) Haaland is also getting a fair few goals that he is basically creating by himself.

'Dead' is a strong word but it is definitely concerning IMO that we haven't got goals coming from anywhere except him right now.

Have the couple of posters who claimed he was detrimental to our play finally seen the light and accepted they were wrong yet?
Just that I don’t see them on his threads anymore.
He’s a bonafide superstar of the game and he’s ours. Looking forward to seeing him make history over the next few seasons as record after record tumbles.

The whole team is geared towards creating chances for Haaland, and that's right because he is exceptional. But we were scoring more league goals before Haaland, with Jesus and Sterling as our forwards. That said, we couldn't win the Treble without Haaland.

Yes, currently we are dependent on Haaland's form. That's normal. Pep has shown multiple times we can be successful without a pure striker. Marmoush, Foden, Cherki, Reijnders should be able to score more goals, Doku, Savinho and Bobb are young and can get much better in that respect.

Really love how its gone from "Do City get Haaland involved enough?" To "Are City too reliant on Haaland?"
what has pep changed to get haaland so much more room inbehind, almost like the summer window was to get the best out of haaland and build the team around him

Agree totally.
I never thought a player could come close to el mago.
But I remember hearing about this lad in Germany.
And watching him break records for Dortmund.
And then we signed him.
Wow .
To watch him live is just unbelievable.
He could be the greatest goal scorer ever.

He’s on Messi esque form, unplayable
Messi and that tranny were on a different level to any other players at that time.
Ronaldo was in unreal the real one I mean.
Zidane.
Maradona before them won the world cup on his own and the title twice with Napoli.
Thats in the time I've been going.
Messi and tranny scored goals at a rate not really seen before.
This lad is the top player in the generation after Messi and tranny.
Once in a life time player.
A freak.
Like a robot designed to score goals.
And he plays for man city.
Just be grateful appreciate him.
We're witnessing the number one star in his life time.
Mad really the best striker in world football supports city and plays for city

It's like in 84 when I first went to city maradona or cruff been a blue and playing for us.
Instead of Andy may
