Villa v Maccabi Tel Aviv - away fans banned | MTA confirm they will refuse any allocation for safety reasons (p26)

Because of their own actions. Not because they cannot control the locals
I wouldn't go that far, but them being punished because they fear muslims in Birmingham won't behave is a bit harsh yeah.
No they are punished because they fear they won't behave leading to Muslims in Birmingham not behaving which is what happened in Amsterdam.

They're banned because of violence at previous away matches in Europe after a thorough risk assessment from the council and police, its in the police statement.

Same reason Italian authorities have banned Frankfurt from Naples in November and I believe Ajax in Marseille.

Been a pretty common theme across Europe in recent seasons.

I have no truck with football hooligans but it's not like MTA's fans are the only ones. The issue is that Muslims and any other pro-Palestinian factions will attack them, even in the event that they behave themselves. That happened in Amsterdam, where Jews/Israelis were targeted.

Both sides in this need to learn to behave like adults instead of resorting to threats and violence.

Rubbish, the MTA fans started the violence in Amsterdam leading to the targeted attacks after the game.

There is a big spoonful of double standards when it comes to this but I won't go into that and stay on topic. Ultimately a set of footballing fans should not be banned to a football match. Especially if they do that on the basis of home supporters not being able to control themselves.

They had issues at Ajax, because they very stupidly put on a pro Palestine protest on pre match. What on earth did they think would come of that? There is nothing to gain what so ever and if you care that much, pop over to Israel and protest, of course they fucking wouldn't. I would imagine that if there was no protests it would go a lot smoother. As someone else said, what happens when Spurs come to Villa this season then? I don't imagine the Tel Aviv fans are blameless and I imagine, like every set of footballing fans in the country, they will have cunts following them too. By banning them it has created a bigger story, their die hard fans I imagine will still travel and you potentially may get greater trouble than first feared.
By that rationale the Utd fans can tear up and riot in any city that mocks the Munich tragedy. When Juve played Liverpool banners were held calling them murders, the Juve fans have provoked them so the scouse can do what they want in response. England playing Argentina in the World Cup after the Falklands is another example.

Fans abusing other sets of fans is not great but it is par for the course. The response cannot be that violence is acceptable. In relation to Ajax a number of European countries have strong support for Palestine in this conflict. No different than a Russian club coming to Europe and been confronted with vocal support for Ukraine. This isn't a case that Jewish fans are banned or not welcome at football, it is a sensitive time where a fragile peace has been made in a dreadful situation. A group of fans who have a poor track record in other European cities have been told to stay away for their own and other fans safety. This policy is already in place with how Israel are seeded in international football, safety and international tension is put before sporting rules.

I think too much energy is being spent arguing about whether the ban is to protect locals from the visiting fans, or vice-versa. In reality it's probably a bit of both. The police understandably see this as a high-risk fixture, particularly in the current climate, so the decision seems fairly reasonable in those terms. It's become a far bigger issue than it needed to be, not helped by politicians on all sides wading in. Those same politicians have been fairly quiet on the issue since the Tel Aviv derby was cancelled though.

That's the problem in this debate. There's a group who fail to recognise that there's fault on both sides. There's undeniably a group in UK society that hate all Israelis, and a group that hates all Jews. And that latter pre-dates the situation in Gaza. If you can't admit that then you're the one with the problem.

Good comment perhaps lock the thread for a while to prevent it getting out of control

Without goung into the politics of it we all know who will be out to cause problems and it will be them who have no clue about religion.
Is it really gonna be any worse than an inner City derby game?????
We had fisticuffs at our game Saturday what do you do start banning away fans ?????‽?

It's the nature of the Maccabi fans. Gloating about dead palistinian children and also wanting our owners to be killed with their chanting.

Has anything constructive happened in this thread, or has it just been the same name calling by the same people?
Probably not but there isn't much of that in any thread. Granted no name calling or abuse should take place.

Learn something new everyday but we have also have had cuntish fans in our leagues that have mocked certain tragedies so how far do you go ????

Sorry Ric that’s too balanced for this place and it’s muffin\barm culture where it’s either one extreme or the other.

Here's what happened in Amsterdam since our resident genocide apologist wants to lie about it and play the victim

Pulling down flags from private residences

Booing a minutes silence for the victims of floods in Valencia

Walking through the streets en masse with weapons.

Here's them singing about raping female fans of a rival team and drinking their blood

And yes, the Ajax fans did kick fuck out of them afterwards. Because they deserved it. End of.

Do you mean muslims are the group that hate all jews? And if not, who do you mean?
