Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

One of those days. Been a good run of late but too many 5 out of 10 performances today made us far too easy to play against and play through. Too slow as well. Not enough players today grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck. Bobb Reindeer Phil Bernie just not at it. Haarland too but that perhaps a function of team. As for Savinho I just don’t get it. How he lasted until 82 minute I don’t know. Drives me crazy. Reindeer playing too deep, pointless giving him a Rodri role but then ineffectual when he was pushed up.

And Christ Almighty listening to Andy Hinchcliffe co commentate on our games is like listening to someone drag their nails down a chalkboard, with his one “idea”repeated over and over.

Hard place to go even this season. Jog on.

That was such a poor performance. I find it hard to believe what I watched - at least I’m on holiday 8 hours in front of the U.K. so can go to bed soon and put it all behind me….
 
100% agree with the comments that we missed Rodri / Nico G today. While it didn’t alter too much, we looked a much more cohesive unit with Nico G in the middle when he came on - that link was clearly missing.

Bobb and Savinho should be nowhere near a starting spot for the foreseeable. Brought us absolutely nothing today, woeful. Felt sorry for Nunes, he was doing the job of two men on that wing.

Disappointed with Marmoush and Cherki, thought they would offer more but then Villa defended very well.

I think that performance sums up exactly where we are. A narrow loss away at a good side who play well and to their strengths at home. We’re good, but not good enough yet. It’s an annoying one but I’m glad to have that game out of the way.

Fortunately we’re going on holiday tomorrow and it’s half term so I don’t have to contend with a school run and/or work crewroom full of Villa fans
 
If there's one thing about being a City Fan during the Pep era is that the Line-up will tell you everything.

I'm afraid he has over-complicated things today, the starting line-up was poor and the substitutions even worse. No need to slate any player today, they can only perform on a platform given to them, there was no shape, no solid base, no player dropping deep to help the build up and no game changing substitutions.

Yet another bogey team.We must have about 10 now.
Sick to death of seeing them 2 weak wingers.
What has Marmoush done wrong? He is the only other player after from Haaland in the squad who knows were the goal is.
Mid table for this lot. Too many other teams who have more heart, strength and energy than us.
Our corners (and kit) can fuck off too

We aren’t. The league is mediocre and Pep is living on former glories. That starting line up really fucked us. If Pep couldn’t see that he’s an idiot.

I wasn't happy with it no, but I actually think we started pretty well and then perofrmances started to dip.
 
next two PL games Bournemouth home who seems to be flying high, and then Liverpool home , can see this anything between 6 points or 0 points.

There are several players who should be asking serious questions of themselves and unfortunately on days and performances like today that includes Pep.
Still very early and still in the mix fortunately but we would struggle to finish mid table with too many games of that quality from us.
If the lineup was due to medical advice then I can accept it, if it was tactical it was fucking batshit crazy.

Barca are playing teenagers and Eric Garcia at CB and still the same process regardless. We have players who can move the ball quicker, they just choose not to.
