We’ll do well to finish top 6 imo.

We're obviously better than we were last season when we finished 3rd, so finishing 6th or 7th seems unlikely.

3 defeats already has left us needing to be almost perfect for the rest of the season, this squad isn’t even close to the level required to do that. Title over for us and it’s not even November.

Only if you think the Champions will match the points totals us and the scousers were getting at our best. I think 85 points will win it this season. Arsenal are clear favourites but if we can stay on their coat tails until the business end and get Rodri back to somewhere near his best then I wouldn't write us off.

Liverpool should win it. If you’re champions and you spend £500m, no other team should get anywhere near you. Them not winning the title would be an epic failure, not that it will be portrayed that way in the media.

It looks like Arsenal will piss it, despite not even being that good. They’re good on the ball, solid defensively but they don’t exactly destroy teams. It’s all very methodical but more importantly, they’re far more consistent than anyone else. It’s hard to imagine them losing 3 or 4 games on the spin.

We are a shadow of our former selves. Poor recruitment has killed us. We used to hardly ever miss in the transfer market. I’d say that’s now flipped to hardly ever hitting. We have bought a lot of players that hover somewhere between absolute shite and good. Good isn’t good enough.

Don't think we're even close. I'm struggling to think of 1 signing in the last 3 or 4 windows who has improved us, with the possible exception of Donearunner, and even that depends on how high you place Eddies ability with his feet.

If an opportunity to win it arises ( it will take an Arsenal collapse) we will be among the sides in a position to take it. The season is about rebuilding for me. We will find out who can cut it and who can’t and go again in the transfer window in the summer. Next season we will have both Rodri and a seasoned Nico so expect to be solid in midfield and it’s then about fixing the creativity problem. Going to be a long season with more steps forward than back.

I agree we used to get the large and many of the smaller transfers right. Can't really say that since Haaland we have nailed a transfer.
Josko was a huge fee and he has been poor this season. Too early on Donnasummer. The rest are projects & potential. I thought Tijjani would have been a knock out of the park but starting to look like a complete bust. Him and Omar M are on huge wages.

We used to witness a couple of performances per season similar to yesterday's not so long ago. Last season had too many to mention and we've seen a couple already, and likely more to come. We've got to get other players scoring by hook or by crook.

They've had it wrapped up at Christmas 3 of the last 4 seasons.

They are biggest bedwetters, though some fans on here give them a run for their money.

Yes they look more mature for want of a better word but they are the champions of the bottlejobs.

Crap at Brentford ? Their subsequent results suggest that a crap performance won’t see a team come away from their ground with 3 points like we did.

Is this need to look “convincing” coming from the same needy place as those who want us to dominate the entire 90 minutes of every game we play. Witness the Villareal post match thread with many flappers moaning that we didn’t control the 2nd half blah blah blah. It’s not always about looking convincing it’s more about the result mate and today we had our first bad one since August.

We aren’t far off we just need maybe one elite player in the middle and probably a fullback. Get them and despite the obvious squad deficiencies we can still be in the hunt.

Brentford were poor that day but we did defend well and Donna is proving why signing quality matters. Sadly along with those positions you mention 3 or 4 others in forward positions will be required. I am starting to think it might be 2 or 3 seasons before we can compete seriously and that is dependent on getting the right players and replacement for Pep in. The real possibility emerging is that rather than strenthening we get weaker and lose Rodri and Haaland.
The next few games in the league are crucial in terms of whether we can finish near the top I think.

They look like the same Arsenal as last season only this season Liverpool have fallen away.

I thought we might win at Villa but we came up a little short. It's too early to know how City will evolve. We are a young side and have players like Khusanov, Cherki, Marmoush and Rodri who have not played much football this season. I think we are stronger than last season and we will get better.
