Well done to Swansea and Cherki. They all played well.

We fell into Swansea’s trap in their incessant rushing and pressing. We were panicking when we just needed a bit of composure.

Swansea couldn’t keep their intensity up and they looked tired from about 35 mins in. It will be the same second half, maybe they’ll start to fatigue even earlier in the second stansa.

We just need to put our foot on the ball and be confident in our own ability instead of shitting ourselves any time they run at us quickly and trying to play stupid passes. Most of these players (Trafford, Ait-Nouri and Mukasa I think are the only ones who haven’t) have all played CL football before, just calm the fuck down.
 
That was absolute dogshit until we scored. Improved a little after the goal.

The back 4 were atrocious. RAN and Khusanov particularly bad but Rico and Ake not much better.

Nico was decent but I wish he would get his head up a bit more.

Mukasa was largely invisible.

Cherki best player on the pitch by a country mile. Always looking for the killer pass…we will no doubt soon knock that nonsense out of him.

Marmoush is like a speedboat without a captain. It’s like someone has passed him a land mine. I wish he would just calm the fuck down.

I think Bobb might be playing for his City career here. Might sound hyperbolic but I don’t think he will keep getting away with these nothing performances.
 
Its almost like you actually need a midfield to control a football game. Definitely couldnt predict that kind of performance from that lineup...

Bobb and Mukasa both been extremely quiet. Cherki looked lively, doku got the goal, Marmoush looks lost whichever position he plays, but moreso when he is upfront. Nico done well on his own. Lewis as usual just doing the schoolyard routine if being named right back but just playing upfront. Ait-nouri crap, khusanov not much better, hopefully just rust for them two.

I'd genuinely stick Kalvin Phillips on at halftime alongside Nico to give us something at least resembling a midfield.
 
Well done Traff! Khusanov, Musaka, Marmoush, Ait Nouri, Lewis, Gonzo and Bobb are all well off the pace tonight, lacking confidence and slow to react. Short of minutes maybe but I expected better - let's see what the second half brings.
 
Hopefully unfolding as a typical cup game
1 underdog home side 'up for the cup' all over the opposition..goal..supporters bouncing.
2 Stronger side begin to go through the gears..goal..then establishing dominance
Checking looking lively
My one worry is Khusanov..looking a nervous wreck...
City should win this..
Maybe sub Khusanov..or not? Score a couple more and nurture his confidence?
What do folk think?
 
Before people start going off on Khusanov, RAN, Marmoush and Cherki we have to understand that they’ve all come back from injury. This is part of their adjustment period. This is a first start for these players in at least a month. It’s not like they’ve randomly just decided to start stinking it up.

For other players like Bobb and Lewis it’s simply just them being out of form unfortunately
 
Good first half IMO. Just another great goal no keeper is saving. Considering we have alot of players getting back to full fitness, we have played well. These games are never easy, this far in against an underdog.

Cherki and Nico G have been really good.
