Borussia Dortmund (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

You do know the PL is lead by the FA? Like the FA is a trustful organisation. 115? Or do we need to sum up what people see as an agenda vs us breaking up the comfy top 4 or red cartel. They are as bad as UEFA.

Anyway, different discussion. My sole interest goes to the team in 4th position and I can’t give a flying feck about the position of other PL-teams.

Great win last night. Up the dippers next.
The FA has nothing to do with the 115 charges, that's purely the PL.

Imagine going to a match and not watching it but standing with a fucking megaphone saying all follow me, what a twat. Good performance glad to see Pep been more pragmatic and bring on Dias to shore up the back after that dodgy 15mins. The dippers game will be interesting.
Thats the type of thing David Conn and his ilk lap up, and what they take as a sign of a great "atmosphere" when in reality its falsfied, performative bollocks. Same at Bayern and most German grounds tbh - 4/5 blokes waving big flags throughout and even when a goal goes in against the home team at the very end they are at, the flags keep waving regardless of whats happening on the field.

Its got zilch to do with atmosphere and everything to do with manufactured shite; "atmosphere" and vibes for the niche brigade who think it makes for a spectacle - akin to The Truman Show in a football stadium.

A big win, a largely excellent performance but still that period where we were under pressure and couldn't do anything to wrestle control back. I look at this team with the hope to see us back at the very top, winning the league or CL so whilst I'm being overly critical, it is alarming we have had periods like that in so many games.

For me it comes from us trying to score more goals and giving the ball away. Someone needs to step up and calm things down and just look to keep the ball. At 3-1 we didn't need to do anything but keep possession and see the game out. The team needs to learn that quite quickly.

Enjoyed that a lot. Some of the football was pure entertainment. Do not underestimate the message that game sends out. The first 10-15 minutes shows what a good team Dortmund are, but we soaked it up and beat them convincingly. Loved it.

One point I don’t think I’ve seen mentioned is the ‘tackle’ on Doku. No red, no yellow, no VAR review, no nothing. And my wife keeps asking me why we still boo UEFA’s jingle.

Don't Palace have their own equivalent?

Really naughty tackle that, it got replayed instantly twice when it happened making me think if the match producer had picked up on surely VAR was looking at it. Nope, nothing.

If that was the other way round though they would have been all over it. The penalty in Monaco is testament to that.

Interesting viewing, this. We’ve become a transitional team, relying on pace, power and instinct. And I’m here for it.

Teams were happy to let us have the ball last season and it showed, now we’ve turned the tables and are capable of hitting them on the counter.

No surprise Haaland’s thriving even more in this type of system either.

A sluggish start, and a nervy 10 at 3-1 but clinical in-between.

Great to see Fodem looking so sharp.

Gonzalez to his credit is looking more comfortable in that 6 role.

I feel a greater consistency of performance over a full 90 is needed to get back to winning the big big games like at the weekend.

It feels like we only have 50-60 mins at full throttle over 90 mins at the moment, and against the teams with greater physicality and more fire power it will cost us.

Solid 3 points though.
I think Pep was managing the players in the second half to save energy for Liverpool.

But, it is a really good description. Nico has really impressed and has a toughness that brings steel to our midfield. The idea of a Rodri-Nico pairing in the middle is mouth-watering.
I think we will be virtually unbeatable if we can get Rodri back and alongside Nico G. With Foden and Cherki creating for Haaland. I think this is why Pep smiles a lot these days. Last year he was frowning.

Late to post match party but have to say really enjoyed that. Am liking watching us again. Even if this new punch the ball through the central area scares me to death when we lose it. But prefer that to the eternal out to the wing, turn, pass back, repeat stuff.

First 10 mins poor, didn’t get going but then terrific even if went off it again after scoring the third. A third goal blimey! And the subs were bang on. Been a while since the boys had me coo’ing out loud as I watched.

Really great team performance with Phil immense. The Nicos, The Don, Erling, Doku all very good. Defence solid. And who knew, Nunes terrific and even, drumroll, Savinho.

And Can warmed us up for Sunday with his annoying cameo running around kicking, pulling and moaning.

Need another great performance Sunday. Well done lads.

No and its not the local Library either, with fans reading books or phones .... or is it?

No different to the old days when fans read programmes or a newspaper in the stands, now it's mobiles. Life moves on, concentration levels have waned due to the many instant distractions available
As I said earlier it's also not a Eurovision song contest. A load of Dortmund fans not even watching the game but conducting their orchestra with megaphones .Their orchestra more interested in singing and jumping in time and banging a fucking drum. It's shit and just becimes white droning noise, with zero effect on their teams performance.

The potential of a 4-2-3-1 with Rodri/Nico G is so exciting.

But best thing for Pep is a) players are doing everything he wants and getting better every game and b) he has options. Really good options.
