The BBC | Tim Davie resigns as Director General over Trump documentary edit (p 187)

Obviously a couple of big clangers dropped leading to this, but generally we are becoming quite infantile with our news consumption - everyone wanting it to echo their own shitty views like their SM feeds. On the whole BBC news does well until it feels pressure to pander to certain agendas.

That you have either side of the debate as adamant as they are about perceived bias shows exactly why the BBC is still needed.

It’s right people have left over the Trump panorama too, something that also sets them apart.
For what it’s worth I watched the match with someone today who works for the BBC and he is probably the most middle ground person I know. Didn’t surprise him at all and was talking about how right wing davie is known to be but how left the runners on the news desk are. Always gonna happen imo

Sir Robbie Gibb the BBC News chief is as left wing as Ghengis Khan...

Corbyn had the right of right idea of promising full independence from state influence.

BBC is a fantastic organisation for education and ground breaking TV that a commercial director will never touch. Sadly it's rolling news arm along with the occasional celebrity nonce destroys their reputation.

I wouldn’t underestimate some of the news coverage still, thought it was a real shame when they cut the world service budget.

This is what frustrates me.

They do some great news documentaries on world stories we see seldom reported in depth but only appear on their World News channel.

Love the bbc. They make mistakes, and some big ones over the decades, but on balance still worth every penny. Some fabulous programmes on tv and radio, and an unrivalled archive. Every other country would want a public broadcaster as good as ours.
I'm afraid it's not what it was.

well said, BBC is the best service by far . such a shame this fucking edit plays right into the hands of Trump and Farage who will be determind to bring it down so we get are news from Gbeebies and Musks social media.

Good, I have said for a while that the right wing have taken over the BBC. Tory K a prime example. No fact checking of right wing ‘facts’ on R4 programmes. It happens every single day. I want unbiased news either one way or the other. That is what the BBC was famous for until Boris got his claws in.
