The BBC | Tim Davie resigns as Director General over Trump documentary edit (p 187)

Good, I have said for a while that the right wing have taken over the BBC. Tory K a prime example. No fact checking of right wing ‘facts’ on R4 programmes. It happens every single day. I want unbiased news either one way or the other. That is what the BBC was famous for until Boris got his claws in.
You might be slightly behind the curve a bit here.

Love the bbc. They make mistakes, and some big ones over the decades, but on balance still worth every penny. Some fabulous programmes on tv and radio, and an unrivalled archive. Every other country would want a public broadcaster as good as ours.

Id also argue that even if someone doesn’t consume what they feel is value for money from them personally, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t in general. It does so many things a commercial broadcaster wouldn’t.

It’s right that people have stepped down over this though.

The BBC is just simple a tool and employs dozens of tools. I've just watched the ten o'clock news where there's a charge of the BBC being biased. The general notion was that they weren't - they were just stupid.

MotD2 next - ten mins for Brentford and seven mins for the Dippers getting turned over! Make up yer own minds about bias.

Probably demanded the action and Starmer bent over. However he's sacked the wrong ones.

Gibb is the parasite in BBC News.
Whatever one's general view of the beeb is its a depressing day when you can't rely on anyone to be honest in its reporting anymore. Throw in AI and its becoming more difficult to get to the truth.

The only body who can sack the Director General is the BBC board.
Indeed.

Both Davie and the BBC News CEO resigned quite rightly for faking news.

Wouldn't be surprised if the culture secretary advised them to do so.

Be interesting who the board appoints to replace them and for that matter who'd want it because they don't get paid nowhere near as much as the heads of commercial organisations.

Agreed.

The majority of us are projected an dedicated algorithm based our bias and beliefs.

Another good thread to discuss what is truthful and what isn't and it's affect on us whole in general.

JNS appears to be a bullshit Hasbara publication doing the usual anti Israel is anti semitic bullshit.
That ship has sailed and the majority of the world's population don't need the BBC or anyone else to show them how indescribably appalling Israel has been in it's collective punishment of Gazans.
How about the BBC internal Prescott report that reported the same thing. Is that "bullshit Hasbara"? https://archive.ph/mJIsB

Michael Prescott was formerly the independent advisor to the BBC's Editorial Standards & Guidelines Committee until June and he revealed these issues.

Made a bit of a tit of yourself here mate and shown your true colours. Not for the first time either.

Yup. The one thing I would say about the bbc, at least over the last couple of decades, is when they do get it wrong, they’re more critical of themselves and self-flagellating than any of our media organisations. Even this, most people are reading about it on the bbc itself.

That and people are losing their job over it, something again that’s rarely repeated elsewhere.

It should hold itself to higher standards though so they’re a given and you’re absolutely right, when they fuck up it’s a depressing day for us all.

My true colours are that I think Palestinians deserve a country of their own something that the the current Israeli government are determined will never happen.
I also think Israel has acted with spite, hatred and way over the top force in dismantling Gaza.
The fact that I believe these things does not mean I am tit.

The CEO is Samir Shah as in head of the board. There is no role titled CEO. Davie is the DG appointed by that board and is answerable to them. The other person to resign is the Head of News and Current Affairs - other than that totally accurate

I agree with you on that but that's not the point here. You used the term 'hasbara' to describe an internal BBC report.

You could hold your hands up and admit your mistake or you could continue to double down.

The BBC is a shadow of itself. Still dominated by repeats. It makes very little drama these days. Too much crap about gardening, food, travel, and antiques. The comedy is dire. The live football coverage is non existent. The radio output is inferior to Times Radio and LBC. It is still London-centred and the news coverage is very biased…just like their distorted and dishonest coverage of City’s financial saga.
