Will we win the league this season?

As a born and raised pessimistic City fan I am starting to feel quite uncomfortable with this renewed hope im starting to feel.

Fuck!! Can’t believe I have said it out loud. I’ve probably jinxed it.

One could argue that Liverpool were weak and are regularly beaten away at this time. Brentford beat them, so what if we beat them? I think the result though is significant psychologically. It will change how the fans think about City and how the players think about themselves. It also does more damage to Liverpool, and that is always a good thing.
We beat them 3-0 had a penalty saved, and thoroughly dominated them.

Arsenal’s first two PL games after the international break will hopefully prove tricky. North London Derby at home followed by away at Chelsea.
I never trust Spurs to do anything when you want them to. Arsenal will beat them easily. And who knows what Chelsea will do. I can see Arsenal winning both games.

Spurs are a poor team and Arsenal will dismantle them easily. They only really put on a show up for their two cup finals.

The way I see it is if City play at their absolute best and we play at our best then City are better (particularly as there is a Ballon D'or winner to slot back into that midfield). But our worst isn't a million miles from our best in terms of being able to play badly and still grind out a win (set piece goal etc) whereas I think City can be more inconsistent and look like there's a goal to be had against them (Arsenal conceding 2 goals at Sunderland notwithstanding). Albeit City have the 2nd best defensive record in the league currently.

Whatever happens, the narrative that we would piss the league and never concede a goal ever again (all those idiotic Youtube vids from so-called influencers 'Arsenal are SCARY' etc) has been put to bed - it will be a tough battle which is what I always expected.

Everyone will be crossing fingers and toes during the international break that key players come back unscathed.

Yes we will discombobulate them , Spurs already won their cup final this season and we are expecting Madueke, Havertz, Gyokeres and Odegaard to be back for that one. Chelsea away in the following match will be tricky though.

You didn't get the point the first time, so I'll say it again to you, is it meaningful to beat utter rubbish?
Can only beat what’s in front of you mate, and what i saw us beat was the premier league champions 3-0 :-)
The famous Anfield Kopites couldn’t deal with the Etihad atmosphere once again and got run over.

We have a chance now which I didn’t think after brighton. Injuries will tell. We keep a fit core and the big man then it’s going to be a ride.

Shouldn‘t get carried away, but the last few weeks have had the feel of previous seasons, where we‘ve started sketchily and looked a way off, then at some point through the winter alighted on a particular system with a particular group of players that just works. And those seasons have invariably ended with us winning the title …
If we stick with this way of playing, and steer clear of key injuries, no reason we can‘t do it again.
Biggest challenge may be rotating players in - I think those who started at the weekend (with Rodri if/when he gets back properly) look like an obvious first-choice 11, and it could be a question of how well others can adapt and plug into the system as needed (Reijnders, Kovacic, Savinho, Bobb, Lewis, Khusanov etc.)

Still think we are maybe a year too early, we'll see, potential Champions would follow the Liverpool result with going to St James Park and winning. That game will reveal a lot about where we are right now with regards to being able to challenge for the big pots in May.

We top the mini league of the title contenders:

City 4 pts, + 3 GD
Liverpool 3 pts, - 2 GD
Arsenal 1 pt, - 1 GD

That game at Arsenal was huge.

We need to keep the momentum and feel good factor going after the weekend just gone, it's vital. We really don't need a Villa away type performance which wasn't too clever let's be honest.
