North Stand - fans being moved for "City Hall" GA+ section

I know this has been mentioned elsewhere, but thought it deserved it's own thread. It's really shoddy that loyal supporters are being shafted again in favour of even more corporate seating. I sit just a couple of blocks down from those affected, so could just as easily have been me being unceremoniously turfed out of my seat. Could be any of us next time if we don't make a stand against it.

I've just survived by a matter of a few yards, which I'm grateful for. Without doubt I'd be pissed off if my seat had been impacted. I've been all around the ground, in all four stands but have settled into where I am now and have envisaged staying put until the end of my days.

Having said that, whilst understanding people's annoyance, I'm not really sure what more info. those affected are after? The club clearly aren't going to change their minds. They've been told if they stay put, they'll be paying the new premium price. Or they can move to any available seat in the ground for the same price they're currently paying for the next two years. They can't possibly tell them exactly which seats are available until after the renewals period is over for next season.

So, genuinely, I'm not here to just annoy people. But what else is there to know? The exact price of staying put I suppose? But that won't even have been decided yet. And it's not hard to have a pretty good guess, by comparing similar areas of the ground.

This is where my demand for a 80,000 seater stadium gains traction.
 
I've seen bits of this but I'm not 100% sure as to whats happening. Are they clearing out half block to allow for fans to but a hospitality deal where they get access to a 'nice bar' and a seat in the block in front of it?

As for what the guy said about the UCL games and tickets going to away fans in our end, I completely agree. I sit near the area he mentioned and its ridiculous that this happens and its blatant as well. Multiple games I've been at and its kicked off. My Mrs is pregnant now and is voluntarily avoiding UCL games as a result. Don't want to distract from the original topic but can see this happening in that hospitality section if true.
 
Worth pointing out that there’s loads of non-S/T seats in my block (140). I would hope the club would look at options like using that capacity before randomly moving people to the top tier elsewhere in the ground. It’s probably similar in all the unaffected level 2 blocks either side of the North Stand near the corners.

They've said that they can have the choice of any available seat in the ground, at their current price for next two years. Obviously apart from the new seats, they won't know exactly what's available until after renewals for next season have closed.
 
I feel for the Blues being forced to move. It’s happened to many thousands of us, often a couple of times, but it still feels unpleasant at first. Luckily, I fell on my feet with the moves and sit with a top bunch of people in the East Stand.

Some of the moaning is a tad excessive IMHO. Saying I’ve been there to see us win loads of trophies and never moved out of my seat, even when too old for the then “family stand”, seem more like benefits to me.

That said, there was no need for the GA plus seats unless they are funding cheaper rail seats.
 
This isn’t new, those of us at the back of the upper tier of the Family Stand were moved 18 months ago with no information about where we might end up.

The only information I’ve ever got from the ticket office since March 2024 was a firm “no” about returning to the family stand next season as there would be “no room” when it all opens.

We’re currently dumped at a corner flag getting rained on most weeks and no sign of any updates.

And the problem with forced moves has always been how they are handled by the club, and I think one of the things we achieved at City Matters was to get them to handle it a bit better when they do it. But with this one there are 7,000 new seats so why do they need to move existing ticket holders at all? Why not put the new facility in the new area rather than an existing one.
 
Supporting a football team is akin to being in an abusive relationship, or at least a relationship where there's an imbalance of influence and opinion.

Supporters are a small part of the business equation, little more than unpaid extras in a very expensive production, the TV companies know this and the clubs know this, the only group that seems to struggle with the dynamic is the fans.

They want us until they don't want us. Take your medicine.
 
has anyone put togther a map of the sets of seats affected - I'm trying to visualise how this will work

I was aware of the GA+ block in the 2nd Tier Level 1 and the Cross Bar hospitality on Level 1 behind it but wasn't aware how City Hall at Level 0 would work BUT here's a page from the Planning app that shows that any hospitality/GA+ seats for City Hall can only be on Level 0

Yet again we shoot ourselves in the foot PR wise at a time when somebody at City should be pulling their tripe out to get every single blue onboard for this new stand.

Was it ever noticed from the plans that some fans would be relocated ? I always presumed the premium seats would be the front of the new stand and not affect existing seats ?

It’s gonna be a challenge to get 8000 extra seats filled for most games - so pissing of those that will have to relocate plus shit loads of more negative PR just seems mental.

The people who run football at any level be it ownership or organisational FA/PL/UEFA/FIFA are going to be very surprised just how much they need match going support, without that tribal support football will bomb and become an afterthought.

Johnny come lately with the tripod and camera attends for the atmosphere, that atmosphere is generated by legacy fans.
