North Stand Construction Discussion

New Birmingham City Stadium

It’s a nod to Manchester’s heritage of red brick mills
We should nod a lot more - it could be linked more to Manchester's heritage.
Etihad translates from Arabic as "Union."
Given Manchester's history in the industrial revolution which is recognised as being centred on our fair city - foundation of the T.U.C. at the Manchester Mechanics Institute; Co-operative movement founded just to the north in Rochdale, with significant Co-op H.Q.'s still in M/C. City being founded as St Marks to entertain the Gorton proletariat.....
Probably unfashionable and not of great interest to our rich board/backers, but it's at the heart of our foundation in 1880, when most of the lads probably couldn't even afford jumpers for goalposts. It emphasises how far we've come though.

Thank goodness we didn’t get those designers for the Etihad extension

Weather has been lovely last few days in Manchester; cold, crisp and clear blue skies.
Unfortunately when in work it was, when I finished it was raining and strong winds also dark. Should be OK tomorrow, then hopefully Sunday and then I have 1 days holiday remaining for 2025 which i am taking half a day Tuesday to get a video around lunchtime. These early dark evenings do not help me.

Don’t apologise. You and @cpoverview do are fantastic job and you clearly have to fit this in amongst other things. Thank you.

I’ve never wanted to be a bricklayer, even though I’m a great pallet stacker, and you could put a spirit level on the pallets I stack. :-)

To be fair, during my decades of taking construction pictures, most of the brickwork has been amazing, especially across the city centre residential and office developments. Bricklaying really is an amazing skill when done properly. Especially on freezing weeks like this week. Even mixing the mortar to get it right can be tricky.
