Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Fuck Newcastle, at least they can go and cry some more tears over beating us and their poxy League Cup now.
Where have they got this chip on their shoulder from? They play to make up numbers and nothing more - thats not being harsh it's what their history suggests.

I'll go as far to say that's the worst refereeing performance I've ever seen but you only had to take one look at the man in charge to figure out how bad it was going to be - weak, inept and just downright ridiculous.

At least we've learned you can block shots in the box with your arms up, follow through on ankles after a shot is taken in the box and that the arm is now a goalscoring part of the body....

We had a chance to move within one point of Arsenal tonight and a performance like that. Too many performances like that and we’re only coming to the end of November. Changes still not being made early enough for me and keeping players on that aren’t playing well, why? hoping that they’ll somehow make something happen? Only world class players do that, KDB, Silva, Toure and in my eyes in the current squad, other than Haaland, we have no world class out field players. Oh and yes, I am fuming. Oh and I’m missing Strictly at Blackpool for this.

We need Rodri to win the title. Gonzalez is very good and should keep his place.

It's Bernardo, Foden and Cherki who lack physicality for such games away from home, playing all three of them is too much and makes as soft in the middle.

More is needed from Foden. He has been excellent in the CL but doesn't create much and doesn’t score enough in the PL. 1+1 G/A in the league is a poor return.

Haaland had a bad day at the office. It happens.

Think we'll win the title. I know some may think it's over. It fucking isn't. We'll get better.

thats what it said on my stream.....the line was drawn from the armpit of the city defender so the newcastle player was deemed onside.

TBH its literally splitting hairs and the overall picture was today we werent good enough. Newcastle won the game on intensity....they had more than us and it won them the game...
We were a bit wasteful in front of goal which is unusual, but we lost the physical battle today.

The one big negative was that our bench/subs were shown to be what some people have been saying for some time....not good enough...Sav and Bobb were very average - Sav was doing his best Grealish impression of turning back inside band passing backwards 9 times out of 10. Bobb had a couple of brighter moments but overall still offered very little.

Nico OReilly needs to add some defensive intensity....very good going forward but it was his very poor clearnance that led to the first goal....and it wasnt the first time in the game he had just shaken a weak leg at a clearance.
Cherki needs to learn that not everything has to be a quick 1-2...he needs to slow it down at least occasionally.

Newcaslte's press was decent and intense when it mattered and caused us problems at times.....I thought Lewis Hall at fullback caused us a lot of problems.

one of the hardest grounds to go to but we need to be able to deal with physically intense teams and right now we struggle against this.

Todayz the day i walk away from the prem league.. not city...

I wont be watching , its become manipulated as fuck ....

Will be watching the local non league ..

VAR has ruined football - end of
Not so much VAR, more the flouncing cheating time wasting players, the refs who won’t clamp down on it and the authorities who won’t introduce proper legislation to deal with it.

So we get a watered down sport where the ability to trick the referee is just as important as skill or conditioning.

Frustrating as fuck that result.

The two questions marks over a title challenge this season was being competitive in the big games and grinding out wins against the likes of Newcastle, Villa and Brighton etc away from home.

I think we’ve managed the first up until now but are nowhere near the latter. We just have that lack of control and fight when it matters in these tough away games.
It was clear as day in the 1st half that it needed changing to get some control but as usual we don’t

Schar on Foden, penalty - not given.
Thiaw handball, penalty - not given.
Dias headlocked and thrown on the floor, penalty - not given.
Newcastle allowed to restart when Dias was being treated - when does that happen?
Offside decision - apparently your elbow is now fair play?
Joelinton and Tonali kicking the shit out of us for 94 minutes before finally being booked - while we get booked for nothing.

Yes, we missed far too many chances. But I can't ignore all those decisions.

Clearly, the referee was giving us nothing and the VAR team was bending the rules on your elbow now in play and turning a blind eye to 3 stone wall pens

Well, not sure bout anyone else but I am Fucking Fuming. Weekend ruined
I was the same, trying to put a brave face on but seething inside and stomping around ready for a ruined evening.

Then walked in the living room, the kids had Strictly on and Steps were on it doing a medley. Cheered me right back up - far more fun than 90 minutes of City playing like that!! :)
