52 | Oscar Bobb - 2025/26

All his contributions in that brief cameo came about because he just roamed centrally and played in the pockets.

Normally when I see him for Norway (or us), he is pinned wide.

But like we have seen with Doku, Bobb thrives closer to goal and in tight spaces.

I hope to see Norway and Pep use him more like that!

I think he’s probably played a bit too much for us this season. He’s obviously got something, but I think he needs to dip in and out and see where we are in the new year

He’s young and will get moments to shine. At present, Savinho is preferred off the bench, but his time will come. However, when it does, he has to grab it with both hands…EVERY TIME!

City, for good or bad, don’t have the luxury of carrying development players for years on end, because their squad position is too valuable once they turn a certain age and require counting against limits. Players have a chance to show who they are at City IN TRAINING and then get elevated to the first team matchday squad, where they should build further experience and confidence. Some don’t. Some keep the same level they had at 18, 19, 20, and never make the step up, which is a huge step.

I fear Oscar might be one of those players we end up selling and watch flourish somewhere else, out of the intense spotlight that is the Top 4 of the PL and CL. However, he has time. Now, he needs to stay fit, healthy and hungry to push on.

Good luck to the lad!

Agree 100%. He's so much more effective in the half spaces.

I agree
Funnily enough the next Unofficial Partner podcast talks about why big clubs can’t be Brighton

Putting ego to onside, big teams need to win. Brighton can buy Bobb for 20mil and see how it goes - City and the like can’t ’see how it goes’ they need to buy Marhez from Leicester rather than Marhez from Le Harve. Obviously Kalvin Phillips and one or two others are outliers but you get the general point

We aren’t Dortmund or Brighton - we are Manchester City/Real Madrid

Totally agree

That's why they need to look at the likes of Cherki. More often than not he makes a big impact when he gets an opportunity. Yes there's games where he's quieter, that's football but generally he makes an impression, even off the bench. That's the only way you really gain trust from the manager and become a regular or starter.

I know it's easier said than done, making an impact, but that's why you're employed by a top club, that's your job requirement as an attacking player at a big club..

You can only get by on being young with potential for so long

Time to start making things happen, otherwise there's plenty of clubs with lesser expectations that'll give you a home.

He was the same playing for the youth set up, they moved him infield and he went from good to running the show. Trouble is he's now got Foden, Cherki and even Doku if he's getting used more infield. There's minutes for him if he's patient enough.

He’s shite n all. Weak as piss and more bothered about trying to beat his man a second, third and fourth time than actually do anything productive with the ball.

Done nothing to warrant any minutes this season. Not a good squad player if he can’t even do it against tired legs

Always wants an extra touch.
He looks like he needs a run of games to get his rhythm, however his cameo’s are not good enough to offer him that chance.

His City highlights can be explained in 2 sentences. Great goal at Newcastle. Promising pre-season but broke his leg.

Gone in the summer. Will be £30-40m to some mid table outfit.
