Will we win the league this season?

Arsenal will drop points away at Chelsea & Villa.

It’s unlikely but Spurs might even nab a point today but if they don’t that’s fine we don’t panic and try and string a few wins together again.

It’s quite simple don’t let them get out of sight and we will reel them in during the 2nd half of the season.

Some of the players are 3-5 years from being in their physical prime, so it’s a weakness that could dog us for a few seasons. We either play to our creative strengths and accept we will be outmuscled in certain games, or we bring in a couple of players that can add protection.

I would say, however, that there’s a significant difference between physicality and deliberate fouling. Cherki took a deliberate one from behind and saw no protection from the referee; the next pass in to him he tried to lay it off immediately, conceded possession, and Newcastle created a chance from it. Doku and Foden were also recipients of unpunished challenges in the opening 30 minutes. That’s par for the course on Tyneside, of course, but we can expect more of the same on our travels.

If Guardiola and Viana don’t rate the fringe players, then get them out, starting in January, and bring in the physical protection the others need.
Agre but this is the game this year....hence why i think we will suffer...we do still play the most attracive football in the league BUT this last couple of seasons has seen a shift in football back towards the physical aspect of it.....David Silva, Bernardo adapted to it.....these others can but will they...

Some of those fringe players I agree with and maybe we have one or two many of these at present?

Not a hope of us winning the league this season, our away form is going to cost us big time. I thought at the start of the season we'd get top 4/5 and should aim for that and little I have seen this season has changed that. Some good performances at home bar Spurs in the league but some turgid stuff away.
Summer signings starting to look a bit indifferent. Too many don't have the requisite levels of consistency, can look great for 15 minutes then vanish. No fit and firing Rodri is taking its toll

Not disagreeing with any of that. Their lead is deserved, but my point remains about the coming months. They may well keep this up and no arguements if they do. But if they don't, it would be a shame that not being able to iron out a few of our problems will prevent us from being in the mix. A nice little winning run from us now would be most welcome.
Agree.

Alas, we're not capable of going on a long, long P/L winning streak. We're very good - but not dominant. Against sides that press us we'll struggle - most often we're better but marginally so.

This is Arsenal's title to lose.

We're close - and with luck - next season's signings will return us to the top. This season, we're top 4 P/L - but not - alas - title contenders.

No. Too inconsistent, away form is a worry. I think we’ll have a good second half of the season. I fancy us for the champs league. I think we’ll do well in cups but not the league.

I honestly thought we would win at Newcastle.

A really disappoint result.

We had the chance to close the gap to 1 behind Arsenal, with Arsenal playing Spurs later on.

It could be 7 pints behind Arsenal instead.

A fantastic opportunity to cement our place in the title race wasted.

Sounds like Arsenal have drunk us under the table.

Our wingers are not enough our defenders are too passive and we have no bite in midfield either which away from home will cost us big time which is happening . If big doesn’t score we don’t win and our second striker doesn’t get on the pitch to make a difference .

You delusional if you’re saying yes. And wins again Leeds and Fulham won’t change anything. We shit the bed when the going gets tough and never look like getting into a lead when we go behind. Squad is nowhere near good enough. We had a decent window when we should have had a great one. Onto next season in terms of winning the league.

Lost more games than 9 other teams in the PL.
There's little indication we have a chance of winning the league.
Too inconsistent, too reliant on Doku and Haaland, lack of leadership and pace at the back.
Our cavalry is piss poor as well, Bobb & Sav coming off the bench doesn’t worry anyone like Kev & Gundo did

Newcastle are a much better team than their league place would suggest.

They’ve been excellent at home this season, they’ve won their last 6 PL+CL home games, only conceding 2 goals in those 6 games, and didn’t deserve to lose to Liverpool nor Arsenal. They’re only 1 point behind us in the CL table and will end up towards to top end of the PL later in the season.

It wasn’t like we were playing a true bottom half team, they’re just a team with poor away form.

Absolutely not. I'll bookmark this and shame myself if we do, but I'm very confident. Rodri is a much bigger miss to us than Haaland would ever be.
