52 | Oscar Bobb - 2025/26

So what you’re saying is u can’t criticise a player who is not performing . For what they get paid I think it’s fair to criticise . And for the record if he turns out better than Harry Kane I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong but I can’t see it .

sure criticise in the games they just played in or any game, just don’t like a young player being written of before we seen him develop..

He's not a young kid. He's nearly 23.

If you want to continue a career at a club looking to win the biggest titles, then every game has to be for you when you're called upon. That's not to say you're gonna shine every game, that's football, but he's at an age now where excuses go out of the window in terms of being ready.
Nearly 23? His birthdate is 12/07, he's nearer to 21.

Whilst the Kane example might be a decent one, Kane played for Spurs not City. Spurs can afford to give players years as they don’t have a stated aim of winning trophies every season

Also, Kane played in the Europa League so could get some easier games/practice at a lower level than we play

Can understand some fans wanting ready made players but when we buy them we give them time to settle in! With Bob is see what I saw in doku who had no end product but Everytime they play there is 2/3 men on them! Some fans must see like last night he has 2/3 players on him blocking all routes but he still managed to get around them won a corner! Final ball not there yet but come on it’s his first full season after his leg break!

As I said the other week, the alarm bells were ringing when the Norway manager called him out
There was a strange moment in one of the recent Norway matches, when one of his teammates signalled to the bench with the 'switch' gesture that players often use when they've been hurt and know that they can't carry on. The signalling player was fine himself, but followed the gesture by pointing upfield.

Next minute, the game stopped and Bobb was taken off. Very strange - wonder whether there's anything going on there that doesn't exactly help his confidence?

So he was 21 when this one started so he's still 21 then? OK...

Time goes forwards. He's heading towards 23. If we see no improvement this season, then we'll be going into another season with a 23 year old who is heading towards his mid 20s with no improvements.

People talk like he's 18 and not ready.

We know how fast time moves in football. Foden will be closer to 30 than 20 by the time the world cup happens at the end of the season. Doesn't seem that long ago he was a kid and people still talk like he is.

so after Bob has started 12 premier games and few subs you writing him of! Forget age players develop at different ages and we know he had a yet out! I’d be giving him at least another 18 months to Judge!

I wouldn't be opposed to selling in summer if there's not a change in his output before end of season. We just have too many attacking players with yoyoing confidence not delivering numbers.

5 years ago we could have shouldered Bobb, not sure we can right now. We need G and A.

I've very much enjoyed the debate about his age on this thread. It's probably Oscar's biggest contribution to the forum this season.

Very good player, makes maybe 15 other PL teams as a starter.

Awful injury, always sets anyone back at the time young lad of not, Newcastle away MC few seasons back he was brilliant.

I'm not writing him off. I'm saying he has to start making some impact when he gets his opportunities, much like Savinho has to.

Yes they're young but they're not babies either. Bobb will be heading to his mid 20s before you know it.

Time to start seeing at least some progression and improvements.

I am convinced he has the potential to be a first choice player for us, but it's true that he has to start showing it soon.

Is hard, coming off a big injury and trying to impress on occasional starts and sub appearances, but it's the nature of top level football. We can't give him an entire season in the team to get back into the groove, he has to force his way in through earning it in the time that he gets
