Match Thread | Manchester City vs. B.Leverkusen (25/11/25)

Not one to have a go at Pep, but if I am brutally honest, if I spent a small fortune to travel back (which I had considered doing this year, but unexpected expenses put a stop to that plan), managed to nick tickets, and sat in the cold to watch a completely rotated side of mostly fringe players that have never really played together in a competitive match, much less the CL, put out that first half display, I’d be a bit bemused.

Can’t imagine blues there tonight are especially happy about it, either.

I understand needing to rest players, but to field a completely different team against a side finding some form, looking to get some separation from elimination places? Just seems odd. Maybe this is the game Pep felt we could afford to lose?

Still hope Pep can somehow improve our cohesion and fluidity in the second half, but I am not getting my hopes up.

Out of that 11 only Trafford, Nico, aitnori & Mahmoush have a future at city. The rest too old or not good enough sadly.

Honestly so disrespectful of our fans, ridiculous amount of changes I’m bored fucking shitless and 200 for our family to go to this.

Just watch Ait-Nouri for their goal. From their first pass out, just outside their box. Zero defensive instincts. They should give him an assist for it.

I like his quick feet, going forward - but he is never going to be a defender.

Well, we've been behind at HT a few times in the CL at home and come back to win so all is not lost. Disappointing that quite a few are not grabbing their chance tonight to impress (so far).
About 40 minutes between Ake's snapshot and Reijnders miss...virtually our only 2 attempts on goal?
Need to do a lot better to salvage something out of this 2nd half and fingers crossed

Sussed Reijnders out a few weeks back... tonight he's totally proven it... dreadful, sadly Rico, Bobb, Ait Nouri and Marmoush not much better

Not going to bash the players at this point. It’s clear the squad is NOWHERE near as good as some make out.

Yes its fucking shite. Only third in the hardest league in the world and before this round of results fourth in a league of thirty two in the champions league. Absolute shite. Fuck off rag/dipper.

What a complete waste of time.

This is down to Pep, the team selection was fucking awful and it's showing on the pitch.

Play your best 11, get the game won and then make changes.

Losing or Drawing tonight puts us in a bad position having to go away go Real Madrid next in the Champions League and realistically we ain't winning that game...

Ludicrous team selection, there's a reason most of those players tonight don't get game time, Rico Lewis, Savinho, Bobb wouldn't get a game for Wolves ffs.
This selection would have been half acceptable had we been playing away at Anfield or The Emirates this coming weekend. I wouldn’t have liked it but I could have understood. Can’t play this XI with Leeds at home. Impossible.

Seeing the goal again and Lewis doesn’t get above a gentle jog. He’s one lazy little twat him.

Lewis is miles down the list of players to blame for that goal. The back line is all over the place, Bobb's not tracked his man at all which is the main reason we concede and Gonzalez who's supposed to be the DM gets to the box and stops running the wrong side of the attackers.

Rico and Reijnders jobs in that situation should be to get to the area they get to, 25 yards from goal offer an out ball when we regain possession.
