I love the man but far out he has to stop with these platitudes and just tell it more bluntly. That was shocking. The starting lineup was not FULL of exceptional players. A lot more has to be done than just "fight".

I’ve travelled 150 miles to watch that, going home tomorrow, another 150 miles.
I’ll be doing the same on Saturday and the following week but that team selection is unforgivable.
He’s picked a team he wouldn’t have picked in a third round FA Cup tie at ANY lower league side.
I’ve never known him take a CL so unseriously, unless we’ve already qualified and I can be pissed off about it, in spite of the last few years.

He has clearly lost the plot this week because I agree with you. He never underestimates games in the CL. He did tonight.

It was a piss poor line up and piss poor performance.

I just cannot get my head around that tonight at all. Not like we are playing Arsenal at home next up.

I can only imagine he was that pissed off with the Newcastle performance that he has dropped all of them bar one.

I can’t think of any other explanation.

Tonight was madness and anyone who filled their boots at 13/2 even after the line up was announced made a very good call!

I agree with you. I don't expect us to win every game. I do expect us to play with a bit of passion, pride, motivation and intensity as if it were a champions league match and not a pre season friendly though.

Waste of time and money for anyone turning up to watch that dross.

just noticed on the BBC news there when they showed the goals that Pep gave the ref an angry glare while shaking his hand at full time.

To be fair the ref gave us nothing. Did he give us a free all night?

Just looking at tomorrow night's fixtures, and the teams that are on 8 or 9 points. I think it's reasonable to conclude we're out of top eight by the end of the evening. At least temporarily.
Then we've got Real, at their place, to get back in.

Maybe we are not really in the Champions League to win it this season, if Pep is making 10 changes, then it looks like bigger games are at home and in the Premier League

We have not one player who can grab a game by the scruff and turn it around. Not one.
In our prime we had at least 5 in every match day 11.
There is no ingenuity or inspiration.
It's football by numbers and when the wrong type of player is bought the whole team becomes ordinary.
We are just mediocre right now.

Very mediocre , this squad is just not up to what is required and we know that and the board have to accept it and get players that have the ability and mental fortitude to win trophies.

Out transfer activity has dropped off significantly in recent seasons.
