If you listen to Guardiola’s post-match press conference, you’ll hear him admit that it’s difficult for guys not to play for weeks and then be thrust into the team, particularly when that team made up of many such players. He knows that he needs to keep integrating them and not just from the bench. It doesn’t matter whether they’ve just arrived or been with us for a decade; if they are not playing regularly, then they’re going to struggle to find rhythm and form.I'm struggling to comprehend that statement.
Most of the Newcastle bench shouldn't need to be "assimilated".
Savio, Bobb, Stones and Ake have been here a while. Marmoush arrived in January as did Khusanov. They've been here long enough to know the drills
Only Reijnders and Ait-Nouri arrived in the summer - so need more work. (Edit: RAN isn't displacing O'Reilly currently anyway)
I'd also say that the team at Newcastle was probably our strongest currently, the addition would be Rodri (possibly for Bernie so we have a double pivot)
But it's all about opinions eh
After 19 games, I find it a tad concerning that we could almost all agree on our ‘best’ starting eleven, because with 21 solid pros to choose from, it really shouldn’t be so cut and dry.
