I always find it bizarre when a genius emerges, and we witness something utterly special, that some people will then find it boring. Littler is possibly the greatest talent to ever hit the sport and his achievements, already, are spectacular. This is elite sport, and the bar has been raised. Now, everyone has to reach his level and beyond, just as anyone who wants to be the best has always had to do. That is, for me, a truly exciting prospect.
We are probably the best PL side of all time. We changed the way the game was played. Others fight to overcome it and the bar is raised. They begin to overtake, we rebuild, we take the crown again...EXHILERATING!

Genuinely think he's overrated. Has zero consistency.

That’s inexperience, potentially. He is streaky, but can reach Littler levels for spells. If he can extend those spells, then who knows?
It’s probably too early for him though this year, with the winner being one of a small pool of about 3 or 4.
Just think with the standard at youth level now, it's never going to work for him. Don't get me wrong, he could win the Worlds one day. But there's 14 year olds consistently hitting 90+ averages in the ADC and youth tourneys.

Littler will be overtaken by someone we probably haven’t heard of yet. The standard is getting higher.

Mitchell Lawrie is already breaking almost every record Littler set at youth level. He threw his first dart 18 months ago. The jammy git.

The thing that stood out for me with the new format is that the women have some brutal first found draws.
But the Gurney Vs Beau matchup has to be the pick of the first round matches.
She exposed one of Littler's few weaknesses i.e slow starts in shorter games and beat him 6-5 in the youth world championship recently. So she must be brimming with confidence and seems like she may finally be ready to do well on the biggest stage of them all. But Gurney is no mug and for a first round tie that is really tough for both players.

The other match I'll be keeping an eye on is Paul Lims game. I loved watching his progress through to the Lakeside final last year in the WDF World Championship.
He's not PDC standard but if he plays like he did last year then he is at least metronomically consistent. If his opponents have some early round nerves or are struggling a bit I can see him punishing them. Remarkable considering he's 71 now I believe!

And talking about the WDF Darts World Championship. It's starts tomorrow (Friday) at 6pm.
Is it a considerably poorer standard of Darts than the PDC version? Yes. But it's fun in it's own way, you get to see players you wouldn't normally see playing and it's free to watch on YouTube.

Martin Lukeman joined my amateur online darts league last night. Averages in it range from 25 to 80, all played from home.
Martin is the World number 38 and the Order of Merit has him at £235k this year.
He went out in the semis. Darts is hard.

Correct mate, I also think it is fantastic how many kids have taken up the sport since Littler come on the scene. There is a darts academy in a sup near me in Salford and apparently wits packed out every week. A few of my mates sons 12/13 year old's now tag along to our local Monday club to have a throw with the blokes.
If it gets kids of the streets and gives them something positive to do then its win win. Its a cheep sport to get into and can be played whenever a kid wants to play!
I cant see anything but positives form the Boom in darts!

Iv watched the darts for the past 20 years , my mrs used to pull her face at it , now she watches every tournament , even has the PDC app on her phone. I enjoy it because I don’t really have a favourite and doesn’t get me wound up like watching football, and it doesn’t fuck me off the rest of the week if someone wins/loses.
