I've never thought about it before so I've just asked a mate who has worked at a few football clubs and will have seen the contract of every player when at all of the clubs and been told that some do get it but it depends entirely on their contracts.

With that in mind, I expect it is something that ortga negotiated into his contract seeing as he was brought in specifically to be the sub keeper.

I doubt city aren't putting him on the bench in cup games to save a couple of grand though.

I remember Crouch on a podcast talking about Champions League games, driving snow in some god-forsaken shit hole when the golden ticket was a place on the bench.
Loads of the players didn't want to play, were just happy to stay huddled up in their jackets and collect their 'bench bonus'.
 
Turkey could come to the rescue here for us.
It would likely be a loan, because why pay a fee for him if he would be free in a few months.
If he has any desire to keep his small chances of being on the Germany plane to the USA this summer, he needs to do everything possible to make this work.

I still think with Ortega we probably delayed selling him until Donna and Eddie deals were done then he probably didn’t have the same level of clubs after him.

At one point it looked like he was going to Leverkusen but they signed Flekken instead. Then he’s linked to Burnley.

I predicted this last summer, Trafford goes to be number 1 somewhere mext summer, Ortega is retained as number 2 and given a new contract. Unless we have another homegrown/club trained replacement in mind, it would be rather pointless doing anything but that.

Steven Warnock mentioned it on one the podcasts that when they were named in Red Scouse squad they got a huge bonus particularly large in Chumps League so they did not care if they did not play as just being in squad was great financial reward
