I would guess if Trump does this it would go down like a pint of sick in Washington. Only a very small portion of extreme right wing types have any affinity with Russia. Most average maga types don't get it and a significant amount of Republican voters would recognise Russia as the enemy and Ukraine as an ally. Especially the military/vets.

I've no doubt Trump has been itching to do it for months but their are still some rationale thinkers that will be pointing out that if he does this there will be a shit storm in Washington and a big dent in his polling. Its exactly what might trip gop congress people over the edge.

Why would that matter to him? He can do it in the US and it have massive repercussions. Imagine him deciding to try sanction any country supplying weapons to Ukraine as he decided Ukraine is the aggressor after he declares those areas as Russian and therefore in US law’s eyes Ukraine are invading Russia.

so much lies, So much corruption over the years have convinced me that the threat from Russia is greatly over stated. Most of their tech is crap and all they can do effectively is repeat Enemy at the Gate and throw bodies and tanks at an enemy at whatever cost and they are running out of both fast anyway. If I were near a nuke silo I wouldn't press any buttons because like as not it would go off in the silo and kill me not any enemy

Well if they were competent they would have won this war a long, long time ago.
Sadly, they are improving.
Their drone manufacturing capability is now frightening and they have nearly caught up Ukraine in drone fighting capability, and the West is developing counter measures far, far far too slowly.
That said, the medium range German SkyRanger (mobile AA programed AA shell shrapnel detonation system) , the short range UK Terahawk Paladin Bashmaster cannon snd the longer range DragonFire Laser, and RF Dew directed microwave are getting there and the Swedish short range Kruger XR anti drone (cheap missile) sre game changers as they change the economics of Russia's drone campaign.
The west needs to push the rapid development and delivery of these systems - they would be the end of Russia's Ukraine conquest.
