Leeds United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

How on earth can you go from completely dominating the game in the first half to that second half shit show. The victory papers over the cracks, defensively we are a shambles and time and again we are done by the ball over the top. The midfield needs strengthening, Gonzalez is a decent player but physically we struggle and are too often pushed off the ball.

Gvardiol has had a poor season and was awful today and Boulders needs to play on Tuesday. Thankfully Phil saved us today.

Would love to know what Pep could be possibly be saying at HT that would change a decent performance into crap one so quickly. Complete mystery.

We're not in a title race. We are clinging on to Arsenal, but they're head and shoulders above us. I don't think I'm a doom and gloomer, and we are rebuilding, fine, but we are miles off it.

Then so be it.

They've taken 5 years to build this side with lots of money, and lots of fuck ups and bottling in between.

We're into our first year of our rebuild.

Patience needed.

Even when we was 2 up we was showing how vulnerable at the back we are. And some was claiming we was playing well. That first half was boring as fuck.
Agreed mate. The lack of control and authority whilst 2-0 in the 2nd half was diabolical. Back in the day the likes of Kev, Gundog and Dave would’ve just kept the ball for 45 minutes and not given those cunts a fucking sniff.

Was saying coming out of the game that we used to have world-class or near world-class players and leaders all over the pitch. But poor recruitment and a manager who seems to have lost his mojo have reduced us to a very ordinary looking team with no mentality, and who fall apart if we concede.

Serious title challengers win that game 4/5-0 from that half time position. They do not throw away a 2 goal lead against prime relegation candidates and scrape the result at the death. Another example of how we aren't anywhere close to winning a title this season. Seeing the same problems every game regardless of who plays and we are completely incapable of putting in a decent 90 minutes.

Hated seeing Dias instruct donnarumma to go down so we could quite literally have a Pep talk. Something needs to be done to eradicate that from the game, Arteta has got a lot to answer for with that bullshit.

Gvardiol had nobody to pass to every time he got the ball. NOR wasn’t showing for him. Doku the same. Nico on his own in the middle and couldn’t be in two places at once to show for the ball.

Felt sorry for Gvardiol quite a bit in that second half.

However, that tackle for the penalty was criminally poor.

You can say that again .. he only managed to touch the ball after he'd floored the Leeds player!

The trouble we have is not having proper full-backs. Nunes fucked up twice for their first goal and Nico let the ball bounce for the 2nd. One simple mistake can panic the whole team and city fans too. Pep was 10 minutes of injury time from facing a backlash i don't think he could backhand it away this time.

Look, moments like an injury-time goal that wins the game can change a whole season and lift the players and fans to believe in something. But the main problem is cover players are being asked to become world-class full-backs and they shit the bed. Sometimes you can get away with it, but when a team is like Arsenal who are the real deal and will not drop many points, City will get found wanting because of the cover players like Nunes and Nico

Pep needs to stop this idea that he can make any player become a world-class fullback ? Why give yourself nightmares when you can have the best money can buy

Got lucky today Pep, Nunes and Nico nearly made it an uncomfortable night

Too close for comfort. Yet, 3 pts is all that matters. Must admit, not a fan of Pep's instant post-match talks on the pitch, be it with our own or opposition players.

How many last minute goals have title winners done over the years?

And that is the reason look at the quality of player in your post to the ones now like night and day it’s actually alarming how poor we have gotten..
